WPD investigating Sunday afternoon homicide

Details were not being released as the Waynesboro Police Department

continues to investigate a Sunday afternoon homicide.

According to Wayne County Coroner Phillip Brewer, DeAnthony Shanks, 27,

was pronounced dead after suffering multiple gunshot wounds from a

handgun. An autopsy for the deceased has been ordered.

WPD Investigations Commander Don Hopkins said he and other investigators

and officers are actively working the case and following various leads.

He declined to provide details due to the case still being investigated.

Hopkins did say that the incident occurred at 4:40 p.m. Sunday on Howard

Brothers Drive.
