Wayne Academy game against Stringer moved to Thursday

October 07, 2026

With the potential of a hurricane hitting the area some time Friday night, officials at Stringer High School Wednesday afternoon announced the Stringer-Wayne Academy football game is being moved from Friday to Thursday night.

Hurricane Isaias is being forecast to make landfall soon after 7 p.m. Friday, with the exact location for that landfall still uncertain. Over the day Wednesday, forecasts drifted eastward toward Baldwin County, Ala., and Pensacola, Fla., but the track of the storm could change at any time.

No matter where landfall takes place, heavy rains and strong winds are being forecast for the Pine Belt, and officials decided to move the game from Friday to Thursday in order to help protect players, coaches, staff and fans who would be traveling.
