All public schools, along with Wayne Academy, will be closed Thursday as Hurricane Francine makes its way through the area
After consulting with emergency management officials, administrators made the decision early Wednesday afternoon to cancel classes on Thursday. As of Wednesday afternoon, classes were scheduled to resume their normal schedule on Friday.
All sporting events and after school activities for the public schools have also been canceled for Thursday.
Francine is expected to dump 4" to 6" inches of rain in the area along with winds up to 40 mph with gusts above 50 mph. The possibility of spin-off tornadoes also exists.
Residents are being asked to stay off roadways as much as possible while the storm makes its way through the area.
