MARY L. SMITH

July 27, 1935-Oct. 28, 2023

Graveside services for Mary L. Smith, 88, of Leakesville, were conducted

on Monday, Oct. 30, 2023 from Providence Cemetery in State Line, with

Rev. Jimmie Butts officiating.

Born in Leroy, Ala., on Saturday, July 27, 1935 to the late Jack and

Rachel Woodyard, she was a member of Providence Church in State Line.

She retired as a Secretary with S&S Timber, Inc.

She died on Saturday, Oct. 28, 2023 at Sparrow Hills in Lucedale

She is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, Phillip Smith of

Leakesville; her son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Shaunda Smith of

State Line; he daughter, Phyllis Smith Hearn of Saraland, Ala.; three

brothers, Raymond Woodyard and John Woodyard, both of Leroy, and Steve

Woodyard of Jackson, Ala.; 12 grandchildren, April Denmark, Rachel

Odell, Sheena Harvison, Skyler Willers, Summer Smith, Shane Smith, Jason

Kittrell, Amanda Breland, Johnny Seabrook, Taylor Lundy, Hannah Hearn

and Jackson Hearn; and a host of great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Rachel Woodyard; her

son, Johnny Smith; three brothers, Benny Woodyard, George Woodyard and

Rudolph Woodyard; her sister, Barbara Roberts; and two

great-grandchildren, Stash Phillips and Brylee Ethridge.
