Schools closing early today due to weather threat

Due to the threat of severe weather, all schools in Wayne County will be closing early.

For schools in the Wayne County School District, Wayne County High School will dismiss at 12:30 p.m. while K-8 schools will dismiss at 12:45.

Wayne Academy has also announced that it is closing early due to the weather threat.

All residents are reminded to stay aware of changing weather conditions, as heavy rain and storms are expected to start moving through the area this afternoon. The area remains under a flash flood threat through 6 a.m. Wednesday, and there is a chance that some of the storms could produce high winds and even tornadoes.
