A State Line man has been arrested in connection to the brutal triple
homicide at a State Line convenience store on New Year's Day.
Drexler Johnson, 37, of 585 Woulard Bend River Road in State Line, was
arrested early Thursday and charged with Accessory After the Fact in
connection to the killings of store clerk Rhonda Denson, her boyfriend
Lester Campbell and store customer Jason Thornton at Clark's convenience
store around 6 a.m. on Jan. 1. The charge means police are accusing
Drexler, a former Wayne County High School football star, of providing
criminal assistance to the person who committed the murders.
It is not clear what type of role Johnson allegedly played before,
during or after the horrific crime as no other details were released by
Greene County Sheriff Ryan Walley.
"I am thankful for the community's assistance in providing information
and ask that anyone with information to continue to contact our office,"
Sheriff Walley told the Herald in a written statement. "We are still
actively investigating this case and this case is my number one
priority, so I may provide justice to all the families affected by this
tragedy.
"I would also like to thank all the agencies that have assisted my
office in investigating this horrible crime."
