Funeral services for Margie P. Dyess, 77, of Shubuta, will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 14, 2022 from the Chapel of Freeman Funeral Home, with Dr. Stephen Smith officiating.

Following the service, interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Shubuta.

Born in Shubuta on Friday, May 5, 1944 to Curtis Williams and Lizzie Williams, she was a member of West Shady Grove Baptist Church. She worked as an Associate with Walmart for 20 years.

She died on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at her residence.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Wiley I. Dyess of Shubuta; her sister and brother-in-law, Brenda Beard and Butch Davis of Laurel; her special niece and her spouse, Rubye and Donald West of Beat Four; two nephews and their spouses, Timothy and Ashley Beard of Laurel and Michael and Amanda Beard of Waynesboro; her great-niece and her spouse, Candy and Thoye Pitts of Waynesboro; her great-nephew and his spouse, Matt and Crystale West of Shubuta; two great-great-nieces, Rylee Pitts of Waynesboro and Brooklyn West of Shubuta; and two great-great-nephews, Tyler Williamson of Waynesboro and Jackson West of Shubuta.

She was preceded in death by her father, Curtis Williams; her mother, Lizzie Williams; her daughter, Marjorie Wilean Dyess; her brother, Buddy Williams; and her nephews, James Beard.

Graveside services for Billy Beasley, 78, of Buckatunna, were conducted on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 from Lewis Chapel Cemetery in Buckatunna, with Rev. Richard Roach officiating.

Born in Copeland, Ala., on Saturday, July 17, 1943 to Bee Beasley and Allie Beasley, he was a member of Lewis Chapel Southern Methodist Church. He had worked as a Millwright at Kellogg Brown and Root.

He died on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at his residence.

He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Vickie L. Beasley of Buckatunna; two sons, Bill Beasley of Buckatunna and Anthony Beasley of Hattiesburg; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lorie and Rev. Richard Roach of Buckatunna and Lisa and John Beasley of Kansas City, Mo.; four sisters and a brother-in-law, Faye McRae of Millry, Ala., Sara Logan of Clanton, Ala., Kay Beasley of State Line and Kathy and Mike Waite of Millry; five grandchildren, Amber, Layla, Tyler, Paige and Zoe; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Bee Beasley; his mother, Allie Beasley; three brothers, Bennie Beasley, Randy Beasley and Ronnie Beasley; and three sisters, Mary Murphy, Naomi Guy and Frances Crager.

REV. HUGH HOLDER-CUMMINGS

Dec. 15, 1945-April 7, 2022

Graveside services for Rev. Hugh Holder-Cummings, 76, of Waynesboro, were conducted on Monday, April 11, 2022 from Hebron Cemetery in Wayne County, with Rev. Charlie Laird and Rev. Cynthia Cross officiating.

Born in Ocean Springs on Saturday, Dec. 15, 1945 to Rev. W.G. Cummings and Mary Shepherd Cummings, he was a United Methodist Minister for the United Methodist Conference for 38 years. He was the epitome of a servant for Christ as he asked for nothing in return and wanted those he was around see Christ and His goodness.

He loved his wife and adored her, their children and their grandchildren. He was a wonderful "Daddy," "Papa" and "Papaw." He was a teacher and passed on every piece of knowledge he could to his children and grandchildren.

He loved nature and animals, taking his wife to any fishing hole they could find, and he loved sitting on the porch swing while bird watching. He has been healed and is looking down on each of us. He will be remembered and loved until one day we join him in his healing.

He lived his life with the verse, "Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless God's Holy Name." (Psalm 103:1)

He died on Thursday, April 7, 2022 at University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 53 years, Rev. Dixie R. Holder-Cummings of Waynesboro; two sons and daughters-in-law, Travis Frank and Amy Cummings of Plain, Wash., and Hugh Andrew and Kari Miller of Waynesboro; a daughters and son-in-law, Elizabeth Irene and Jeremy Allen of Columbia; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Dorothy and Lloyd Phelps of Grand Bay, Ala., and Doris and Eddie Furby of Biloxi; eight grandchildren, Simon Cummings, Rhetta Cummings, Kayleigh Allen, Wyatt Allen, William Miller, Edith Allen, Rowan Allen and Aiden Miller; and Le'Kilo White, who he raised like a son, and his spouse, Shania.

He was preceded in death by his father, Rev. W.G. Cummings; his mother, Mary Shepherd Cummings; and three brothers, W.A. Cummings, Billy Cummings and Dwight Cummings.

MARGARET E. "SNOOKIE" FERGUSON

Funeral services for Margaret E. "Snookie" Ferguson, 84, of State Line, were conducted on Monday, April 11, 2022 from Eret Baptist Church in State Line, with Rev. Glen Bynum officiating.

Interment followed at Eret Baptist Cemetery.

Born in Washington County, Ala., on Wednesday, Nov. 17, 1937 to George W. Ferguson and Margaret H. Ferguson, she was a member of Eret Baptist Church. She had worked as a Kitchen Prepper at Jordan's Fish Camp for many years.

She died on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at Greene County Health and Rehabilitation in Leakesville.

She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Rex and Clydell Ferguson of Clara; five sisters and a brother-in-law, Gertrude Odom of State Line, Lutrica Jordan of State Line, Sadie Ross of Loxley, Ala., Mary Jane Smith of Waynesboro and Thelma Ann and Darrell Garris of State Line; and a host of nieces and nephews that she helped raise.

She was preceded in death by her father, George W. Ferguson; her mother, Margaret H. Ferguson; and three brothers, Gerald Ferguson, Cassell Ferguson and Dexter Ferguson.

June 14, 1976-April 8, 2022

Graveside services for Curtis J. Clark, 44, of State Line, will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 16, 2022 from State Line Cemetery, with Pastor Willie Rankins officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 16, 2022 from the Chapel of McDonald and Sons Funeral Home.

Born on June 14, 1976, he died on Friday, April 8, 2022 at Asbury Home Hospice in Hattiesburg.

He is survived by two sisters, Ronya Ramey and Veronica Clark.

EVA ELAINE GARDNER CHANCELOR

June 6, 1947-April 5, 2022

Funeral services for Eva Elaine Gardner Chancelor, 74, of Stonewall, were conducted on Saturday, April 9, 2022 from First Baptist Church of Quitman, with Dr. Gene Neal and Rev. Dennis Coats officiating.

Interment followed at Chancelor Cemetery at Rolling Creek.

Born on June 6, 1947 to Ellis and Eva (Snellgrove) Gardner in Waynesboro, she was a highly devoted educator. A graduate of Waynesboro High School, she then obtained degrees from Jones County Junior College and a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Southern Mississippi. She received her Dual Master's Degree from Mississippi State University and Elementary Education.

During her 35-year career, she taught in the Quitman and Enterprise School District. She taught GED classes for 20 years at Jones County Junior College. Upon retiring from the state, she worked for three years at the Choctaw Tribal School.

She was a scholastic judge for the Mississippi Distinguished Young Women Scholastic Program for 15 years. As a member of First Baptist Church of Quitman, she loved teaching Vacation Bible School. She left a lasting impact on hundreds of students, all of whom were special to her.

She had a great love for life and laughter, her family, her many friends and her community. She loved her animals, gardening, playing Bunko and Train Dominos. She leaves a lasting legacy.

She died on Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at her residence.

She is survived by her loving husband, Darrell Chancelor; her sons and daughters-in-law, John Gardner Martin, Jon and Amber Chancelor and Blake Emily Chancelor; her daughters and sons-in-law, her daughters and sons-in-law, Laurie M. and Michael Pafford and Kim Chancelor; her grandchildren, Cameron Chancelor, Reagan Chancelor, Brady Chancelor, Cooper Chancelor and Margaret Camille Chancelor; her sister, Emma Ruffin; her brother-in-law, Donald Brown; her sister-in-law, Susan Philley Chancelor; her brother-in-law and his spouse, Timothy and Shelia Chancelor; and several nieces, nephews and extended family members who all loved her dearly.

Funeral services for Rodney G. Holley, 67, of Waynesboro, were conducted on Friday, April 8, 2022, with Rev. Tom Walker and Rev. John Brown officiating.

Interment followed at Mt. Zion Cemetery.

Born in Waynesboro on Saturday, June 5, 1954 to Robert Porter Holley and Eunita Bonner Holley, he was a member of Winchester United Methodist Church. He had worked as a Toolpusher with David New Drilling (W.T. Drilling).

He died on Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.

He is survived by his two daughters and a son-in-law, Amanda "Mandy" and Michael Beard and Brandy Holley Walters, all of Waynesboro; six grandchildren and their respective spouses, Dayton Beard of Waynesboro, Cole and Mikayla Walters of Clara, Allison and Grant Mills of Chicora, Chailey and Damion Brewer of Waynesboro, Katelyn Walters of Clara and Justice Beard of Waynesboro; two great-grandsons, Colten Walters and Lane Walters, both of Clara; the mother of his children, Debbie Barnette of Fairford, Ala.; his son-in-law, Freddie Walters, Jr., of Clara; his brother, Richard Holley of Waynesboro; his twin brother and sister-in-law, Robert Lynn and Venett of Eucutta; his brother and sister-in-law, Ernie and Becky Holly of Waynesboro; and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Jean and Curtis Wayne Pitts of Clara and Margie and Billy Lofton of Waynesboro.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Porter Holley; and his mother, Eunita Bonner Holley.
