Paper seeking help in identifying unknown Veteran for section

June 16, 2026

The public is being asked to help with information on a Veteran
scheduled to be part of the spread in the July 2 America 250 section.
According to Publisher Paul Keane, there is one Veteran that has
information but no name for the Veteran.
"In the flurry of having so many things submitted, dropped off and
emailed, we failed to get the name of a Veteran," Keane said. "We have
the information on the person's service, but no name.
"In addition, there is a copy of the Honorable Discharge papers, but it
is nothing but a blank form."
The handwritten information on the paper that was submitted stated the
following:
"Dates 10/43-02.46. Rank-Colonel. Military Speciality Truck Driver.
Offenses: Okinawa, Ryukulslants, Occupation of China. Medals Good
Conduct, Honorable Service Lapel Pin."
Keane said he hopes that someone will come forward and provide the name
of the Veteran.
"We don't want to miss the chance to recognize this Veteran," he said.
"Unfortunately, if we can't get the name, the photo will run without the
name and information."
Anyone who can provide the Veteran's name is asked to call the office at
601-735-4341 or email Keane at news@thewaynecountynews.com.
