Funeral services for Kathleen Latrita Waites, 73, of Clara, were conducted on Wednesday, March 2, 2022 from the Chapel of Freeman Funeral Home, with Rev. Chris Cooper officiating.

Interment followed at Maynor Creek Cemetery.

Born in Waynesboro on Friday, Feb. 4, 1949 to Joe Davis and Catherine Davis, she was a member of Clara First Church of God. She worked as a Secretary at Buster's Welding.

She died on Monday, Feb. 28, 2022 at her residence.

She is survived by her husband, James R. "Buster" Waites of Clara; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dustin and Ashley Waites of Clara and Richard and Wendy Waites of State Line; a daughter, Shelia D. Waites of Laurel; and eight grandchildren, Ashton Ethridge, Emily Waites, Destiny Waites, Layla Waites, Andrew Savage, Kathryn Revette, Hannah Dickerson and Destiny Dickerson.

She was preceded in death by her father, Joe Davis; her mother, Catherine Davis; two brothers, Rayborn Davis and Dannis Davis; and a sister, Ann Holifield.

Graveside services for Reuben Lee Douglas, 87, of Waynesboro, were conducted on Monday, Feb. 28, 2022 from Trinity First Baptist Church, with Rev. Roger Douglas officiating.

Born in Magnolia Springs, Ala.,on Monday, Feb. 25, 1935 to Richard Bodie Douglas, Sr., and Alameater Tillman Douglas, he served in the United States Army and was a Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He worked as a Receptionist at Opryland Hotel.

He died on Saturday, Feb. 26, 2022 at Sullivan's House in Ellisville.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 64 years, Bobbie F. Douglas of Waynesboro; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Rev. Roger and Judy Douglas of Waynesboro and Michael Douglas of Foley, Ala.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Charlie Kelley of Waynesboro and Katie and Neil Stuckas of Mobile, Ala.; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Bodie Douglas, Sr.; his mother, Alameater Douglas; four brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services for Eddie J. Shanks, 63, of Waynesboro, were conducted on Saturday, Feb. 26, 2022 from Winchester Church of God in Christ, with Supt. George Fairley officiating.

Interment followed at Winchester Church of God in Christ Cemetery.

Born on Jan. 1, 1959, he was a Truck Driver.

He died on Thursday, Feb. 17, 2022 at Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans, La.

He is survived by his won and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Jaquilla Jones; two daughters and a son-in-law, Edlisha and Antonio Sampson and Bridget Shanks; two sisters, Eilleen White and Veronica Shanks; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe and Eloise Shanks and Gary and Amanda Shanks; eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces, uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.

MARION DORIS POWE MILLICAN

Feb. 15, 1936-Feb. 20, 2022

Funeral services for Marion Doris Powe Millican, 86, of McComb, were conducted on Friday, Feb. 25, 2022 from Central Baptist Church, with Rev. Mike Morris, Dr. Robert Netterville and Rev. Rick Kennedy officiating.

Interment followed at Hollywood Cemetery.

Born on Feb. 15, 1936 to Albert G. Powe, Sr., and Florence McCarty Powe, she attended elementary school in Chicora and later graduated high school in Clara, just a few miles from her home.

Although her parents were Church of God and Methodist, she began to attend the Baptist church in Chicora. She and her best friend, Elizabeth Pope, both accepted Christ there and were baptized in the Chickasawhay River near the church. Later, Pope married the very pastor who baptized them and he and she soon became Southern Baptist missionaries.

Doris graduated from William Carey University in 1958. She then attended the University of Southern Mississippi for graduate studies and soon began her teaching career. She taught one year at Prichard Junior High School and one year at Stonewall High School before moving to McComb, where she retired from McComb High School after teaching there for nearly 26 years.

Later in life, she discovered she had a talent for painting. Her brush strokes that she left behind on her canvases are as beautiful as is the legacy of her gentleness, her kindness and her strong Christian faith and values. She was a longtime member of South McComb Baptist Church and for the last 20 years had been a member of Central Baptist Church.

She died on Sunday, Feb. 20, 2022 at her residence.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Dr. David Alan Millican, Sr.; three children and their respective spouses, David Alan Millican, Jr., of Brandon, Alisa Kaye and James Wamsley of Rock Springs, Wyo., and Allison Anne and Greg Cullom of Diamondhead; three grandchildren, Sarah Anne Lewman of Seattle, Wash., Thomas Cody Lewman of Billings, Mont., and Grant Alexander Cullom of Melbourne, Australia; a sister-in-law, Gloria Powe of Hattiesburg; a niece and her spouse, Donna and Wayne Green of Hattiesburg; a nephew and his spouse, Scott and Debbie Powe of Bay St. Louis; three bonus great-grandchildren, Gianna Belin Bozner, Sophia Rose Bozner and Joseph Bozner, all of Rock Springs.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Albert G. Powe, Jr.

Pallbearers were Don Carlisle, Kevin Johnston, Daniel Hart, Kirk Haskins, Mervin Boyd, Randall Allen and Bob Kyzar. Honorary pallbearers were the deacons of Central Baptist Church, the deacons of South McComb Baptist Church and the deacons and elders of First Christian Church.

OLIVIA "LIBBY" CARNEY

Funeral services for Olivia "Libby" Carney, 77, were conducted on Friday, Feb. 25, 2022 from First Baptist Church of Waynesboro, with Dr. Steve Smith officiating.

Interment followed at Hebron Cemetery.

A Homemaker, she enjoyed sewing and adored her church family at First Baptist Church of Waynesboro. He loved her family, and her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was well known for her homemade cakes and delicious fried chicken. She was a loved Nanny in Decatur, Ala., to Forrest and Hunter Fletcher.

She died on Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2022 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.

She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Joey and Kim Carney of Eupora and Johnny and Darlene Carney of Waynesboro; her sister, Charlotte Yelverton of Ellisville; five brothers and four sisters-in-law, Martin and Marquerite Sumrall of Matherville, James and Vickie Sumrall of Wiggins, Samuel "Sammy" Sumrall of Waynesboro, Shelton and Vickie Sumrall of Crestview, Fla., and David and Phyllis Sumrall of Clara; four grandchildren, Lauren, Mason, Mackenzie and Drew; three great-grandchildren, Landon, Lainee and Remi Kate; and a host of beloved nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roan and Jessie McKee Sumrall; her husband, Bobby Carney; and three sisters, Martha Jones, Elsie Gatlin and Elaine Ingram.

Pallbearers were Martin Sumrall, James Dale Sumrall, Shelton Sumrall, Samuel "Sammy" Sumrall, David Sumrall and Mike Walker. Her grandson, Mason Carney, served as an honorary pallbearer.

Born in Waynesboro on Thursday, March 26, 1959 to George H. Mizell and Annabelle Mizell, she was a Homemaker.

She died on Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2022 at Forrest General Hospital.

She is survived by her husband, Freddie L. Walters, Sr., of Waynesboro; her son and daughter-in-law, Freddie L. and Brandy Walters, Jr., of Waynesboro; her daughter and son-in-law, Felicia and Brady Kelley of Waynesboro; her brother, Randy Mizell of Meridian; five grandchildren, Cole Walters, Allison Mills, Katelyn Walters, Brayton Kelley and Anna Jaye Kelly; and two great-grandchildren, Colten Walters and Layne Walters.

Born in Waynesboro on Monday, Dec. 23, 1963 to Rudy Lee and Wanda Lee, he was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. He worked as a Self-Employed Carpenter.

He died on Thursday, Feb. 17, 2022 at his residence.

BRADLEY KAMINSKI

Feb. 19, 2022

Private services for Bradley Kaminski, 52, of Ludowici, Ga., will be conducted on an undisclosed date.

Born in Perry, Fla., he lived in Ludowici a number of years. He was retired from the U.S. Army after 22 years of service and was a Bronze Star recipient.

He was a loving and devoted father who enjoyed time outdoors, fishing, spending time with his son and cooking.

He died on Saturday, Feb. 19, 2022 at Memorial Health in Savannah, Ga.

He is survived by his son, Josh Kaminski of Glendale, Ken.; his former wife and mother of his son, Jessica Kaminski of Glendale; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Pamela and Leo Campbell of Laurel and Janice Helms of Ludowici; his brothers and sister-in-law, SFC Billy and Petra Hicks of Fort Hood, Texas, and Robert Kaminski of Pennsylvania; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Edna Ward.
