OBITUARY — Clifford Harold Cooley

CLIFFORD HAROLD COOLEY

Dec. 3, 1938-Sept. 11, 2025

Funeral services for Clifford Harold Cooley, 86, of Waynesboro, will be 
at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2025 from the Chapel of Freeman Funeral 
Home, with Rev. Jarrod Vanderslice, Rev. Michael Cooley and Rev. Randy 
Cooley officiating. Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m on Tuesday, Sept. 
16, 2025 from the Parlor of Freeman Funeral Home.

Following the funeral service, interment will take place at Corinth 
Cemetery in Wayne County.

Born in Waynesboro on Saturday, dec. 3, 1938 to the late Columbus "Tip" 
and Estelle Cooley, he was a member of Corinth Freewill Baptist Church.

He worked as a Machine Operator with Wells Lamont for 37 years before 
retiring. He worked for 10 more years with Clara School and finally 
retired a second time, going home to enjoy his life with the love of his 
life, Minnie Lee Cooley.

He died on Thursday, Sept. 11, 2025 at Wayne General Hospital.

He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Danny and Venessa 
Cooley and David and Tracy Cooley, all of Waynesboro; his daughter and 
son-in-law, Sheila and Rex Sharkey of Waynesboro; seven grandchildren, 
Rashae Edwards, Colby Cooley, Channing Cooley, Ragan Beasley, Reid 
Cooley, Colton Sharkey and Savannah Boyd; and 11 great-grandchildren, 
Talon Cooley, Maylen Cooley, Maddox Cooley, Cayden Grace Beasley, Remi 
Claire Beasley, Ryker Bagley, Mary Maecyn Edwards, Charlie Kate Cooley, 
Beck Cooley, Cheston Grant Sharkey and Stevie Rae Boyd.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Minnie Lee Cooley; his 
parents, Columbus "Tip" and Estelle Cooley; and his brother, Clinton 
Cooley.
