OBITUARY — William Waynon Harris

WILLIAM WAYNON HARRIS

July 5, 1936-Sept. 10, 2025

Funeral services for William Waynon Harris, 89, of Buckatunna, will be 
at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 14, 2025 from the Chapel of Freeman Funeral 
Home, with Rev. Michael Beckwith and Chaz Crane officiating. Visitation 
will be from 12-2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 14, 2025 from the Parlor of 
Freeman Funeral.

Following the funeral service, interment will take place at Winchester 
Cemetery.

Born in Buckatunna on Sunday, July 5, 1936 to the late William A. Harris 
and Donnie Harris, he was a member of Chicora Baptist Church. He served 
in the United States Army National Guard and retired as a Maintenance 
Supervisor with Wells Lamont.

He died on Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2025 at Wayne General Hospital.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sylvia Evon Harris of Buckatunna; his 
son and daughter-in-law, Ricky Wayne and Michele Harris of Buckatunna; 
two grandsons and their respective spouses, Jeremy Cole and Kady Harris 
and Jaord Kyle and Jaimie Harris; three great-grandchildren and their 
respective spouses, Jeremy Cole and Kady Harris, Emma Grace Harris and 
Karson Harris; and a stepgrandson and his spouse, Jared and Balli Loper.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William A. and Donnie Harris; 
his brother, Samuel Harris; and three sisters, Annie Dean Bonner, Osteen 
Crane and Cassie Bee Bonner.
