Funeral services for Jeannette Jones, 88, of Shubuta, were conducted on 
Saturday, Aug. 9, 2025 from Chapparal Baptist Church in Wayne County, 
with Rev. Fawzy Shorrosh officiating. 
Interment followed at Chapparal Cemetery in Waynesboro.
Born in Waynesboro on Tuesday, April 6, 1937 to the late J. Curt and 
Lois Johnson, she was a member of Chapparal Baptist Church. She retired 
as a Self-Employed Cosmetologist.
She will also be remembered by her family for her love of cooking and 
gardening.
She died on Thursday, Aug. 7, 2025 at her residence, surrounded by her 
loving family.
She is survived by her husband, Glen Robin Jones of Shubuta; three sons 
and two daughters-in-law, Bobby and Kay Jones, Steve and Sharlene Jones 
and Stan Jones, all of Waynesboro; five grandchildren and their 
respective spouses, Natalie and Tucker Walley, Dr. Randy and Andrea 
Jones, Robby and Dr. Sara Jones, Starren Jones and Ricco Jordan; and 
seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, J. Curt and Lois Johnson; her 
brother, Joe Johnson; and a grandson, Cheston Jones.
Pallbearers were Tucker Walley, Robby Jones, Dr. Randy Jones, Raymond 
Payne, Mark Johnson and Brooks Johnson. Honorary pallbearers were Bruce 
Young and Butch Jenkins.

Born in Waynesboro on Thursday, Aug. 25, 1932 to the late Luther Beard, 
Sr., and Helen Beard, he was a member of Trinity First Baptist Church. 
He retired as an Insurance Agent for Liberty National Life insurance 
Company.
He died on Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2025 at Brookwood Villa Personal Care Home 
in Waynesboro.
He is survived by his wife, Jessie Lois Beard of Clara; his daughter and 
son-in-law, Karen and Allen Broadhead of Demopolis, Ala.; his son, 
LaDale Beard of Braxton; his sister, Inez Martin of Waynesboro; and 
three grandchildren and their respective spouses, Brandie and Austin 
Davis, Alicia and Robert Brown and Justin Beard.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Christene Beard; his parents, 
Luther Beard, Sr., and Helen Beard; his daughter, Anita Tyann Beard; his 
brother, Lloyd Davis Shirley III; and his sister, Melba West.

Department of Transportation. A United States Army Veteran, he served 
during the Vietnam War and Operation Desert Storm.

He is survived by his wife, Millie Hall Leggett; his sons and 
daughter-in-law, Oliver and Veronica Leggett, Jr.; his daughters and

She died on Tuesday, June 10, 2025 in Tallahassee, Fla.
She is survived by her husband, Roger Morgan; her son, Marcus Norsworthy 
of Waynesboro; her daughters, Cheryl Norsworthy of Waynesboro, Toni 
Norsworthy-Davis of Tallahassee and Twyla Morgan of Waynesboro; her 
brothers and sisters-in-law, Eddie and Ellar Hodge of Waynesboro and 
Jeffery and Catherine Hodge of Clearwater, Fla.; a host of grandchildren
