DR. WILLIAM DANIEL YOUNG

Funeral services for Dr. William Daniel Young, 88, of Millry, Ala., will 
be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2025 from First Baptist Church of 
Waynesboro, with Dr. Steve Smith and Rev. Jason Sehon officiating. 
Visitation will be from 12-2 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2025 from First 
Baptist Church of Waynesboro.
Following the funeral service, interment will take place at Serenity 
Gardens Cemetery.
Born in Texarkana, Ark., on Thursday, Jan. 7, 1937 to William P. young 
and Ethel Young, he was a member of First Baptist Church of Waynesboro. 
He honorably served for 27 years in both the United States Navy and the 
United States Army. A Veteran of the Vietnam War and Operation Desert 
Storm, he was awarded the Bronze Star for his exemplary service.
Following his distinguished military career, Dr. Young continued to 
serve his community as a General Surgeon, retiring from Wayne General 
Hospital.
He died on Friday, Aug. 1, 2025 at Wayne General Hospital.
He is survived by his wife, Teresa Young of Millry; three sons and their 
respective spouses, Dan and Carroll Young of Texas, William Young and 
Daniel Young, both of Waynesboro; five daughters and their respective 
spouses, Laura Young of Madison, Annie Young and Jeff Bridges of 
Covington, La., Flo Young of Arvada, Colo., Jamie and Ben Hard of 
Sarasota, Fla., and Megan Young of Sarasota; his daughter-in-law, Olga 
Sanchez Solino of Spain; his sister and brother-in-law, Delcie and Bill 
Smith of Greenville, S.C.; 26 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; 
two stepsons, Austin Holyfield and Justin Holyfield, both of Millry; and 
two stepdaughters and their spouses, Cassie and Scott Carlisle of Toxey, 
Ala., and Callie and Dusty Burford of Bay Minette, Ala.
He was preceded in death by his father, William P. Young; his mother, 
Ethel Young; a son, Ben Young; and his brother, John Young.
