Funeral services for James Lester Farrior, 81, of Waynesboro, will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2022 from the Chapel of Freeman Funeral Home, with Rev. Tommy Davis officiating.
Following the funeral service, interment will take place at Waynesboro Cemetery with Masonic Lodge Rites.
Born in Waynesboro on Friday, Nov. 1, 1940 to Marion Augusta Farrior and Willie Mamie Walker Farrior, he was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church. After retiring from Mississippi Power Company, he continued working as a consultant with numerous electrical contractors. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, musician, artist and a huge fan of Elvis Presley.
He died on Friday, Feb. 11, 2022 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.
He is survived by his companion of 24 years, Pat Odom of Waynesboro; two sons and daughters-in-law, James Shannon and Shirley Farrior of Victoria, Texas, and Darrell Dewayne and Delores Farrior of Moss Point; two daughters and sons-in-law, Dana Lynn Farrior and John Richardson of Waynesboro and Felecia Farrior and Christopher Brown of Buford, Ga.; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Janie Carol Farrior and Robert Hyatt of Pelham, Ala., and Wanda Kay Farrior and Lee Lofton of Clara; five grandchildren and their respective spouses, Shaena Farrior, Dakoda and Courtney Farrior, Joseph Cole Burford, Preston DeWayne James and Lane Farrior; three great-grandchildren, Kamri Elaine Farrior, James Braeden Farrior and Kaisin Kade Farrior; extended family members, Glenda Malone and Tom Wolfe, Slidell, La., Karen Malone, Kevin and Kim Malone and Brent and Alice Malone, all of Waynesboro; lifelong friend and cousin, Wayne Brock; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Marion Augusta Farrior; his mother, Willie Mamie Walker Farrior; a daughter, Teresa Tynette Farrior; a son, Lavelle DeLaney "Monk" Farrior; and a brother, Dale Woodson Farrior.
Pallbearers will be Dakoda Farrior, Preston James, Cole Burford, Lane Brown, Kevin Malone and Robert Hyatt. Honorary pallbearers will be Lee Lofton, Brent Malone and Wayne Brock.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Wayne General Hospital, Dr. Stokely, the many staff members who took care of James, Nurse Rhonda Cooley and the Hospice Aides.
