IVAN Q. EUBANKS
Dec. 5, 1942-April 21, 2025
Funeral services for Ivan Q. Eubanks, 82, of Helena, Ala., will be at 2 
p.m. on Friday, April 25, 2025 from the Chapel of Freeman Funeral Home, 
with Rev. Michael Stevenson officiating. Visitation will be from 12-2 
p.m. on Friday, April 25, 2025 from the Parlor of Freeman Funeral Home.
Following the funeral service, interment will take place at Serenity 
Gardens Cemetery in Waynesboro.
Born in Lucedale on Saturday, Dec. 5, 1942 to the late Floyd J. Eubanks 
and Earnestine Cooley Eubanks, he served in the United States Army and 
was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
He was a long-time member of H.S. Stansel Masonic Lodge, where he was a 
Past Master and served as Secretary. He retired as a Self-Employed 
Forester.
He died on Monday, April 21, 2025 at UAB Family Medical West in McCalla, 
Ala.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Bryan J. and Holly 
Eubanks of Brandson; his daughter and son-in-law, Robin L. and Aaron 
Rogers of Helena; his brother and sister-in-law, Lemuel and Nita Eubanks 
of El Lago, Texas; his sister, Julia E. Cloy of Jackson; and seven 
grandchildren, Phillip Cheyne Eubanks, Matthew Donavan Eubanks, Jacob 
Bennett Eubanks, Jenna Noelle Eubanks, Haley Elizabeth Rogers, William 
Evans Rogers and Jack Aaron Rogers.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia Eubanks; his parents, 
Earnestine Cooley and Floyd J. Eubanks; two brothers, Zelton Eubanks and 
Verkuel Eubanks; and two sisters, Melva E. Siddon and Lois E. Lawton.

April 30, 1940-April 16, 2025
Funeral services for Oscar Van "O.V." Williams, 84, of Waynesboro, were 
conducted on Saturday, April 19, 2025 from the Chapel of Freeman Funeral 
Home, with Rev. Rickey Williams officiating.
Interment followed at Lowery Cemetery in Wayne County.
Born in Waynesboro on Tuesday, April 30, 1940 to the late Oscar 
Williams, Sr., and Dora E. Williams, he retired as a Truck Driver with 
Miller Transporters, Inc.
He died on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at his residence, surrounded by his 
loving family.
He is survived by four sons and three daughters-in-law, Terry Williams 
and Clifford and Rene Williams, all of Waynesboro, Chris and Jennifer 
Williams of Branford, Fla., and Bryan and Selena Williams of Laurel; 
four daughters and a son-in-law, Sandra Williams, Janet Headlee and 
Trisha Williams, all of Waynesboro, and Jennifer and Nickey Jordan of 
Buckatunna; 26 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, four 
great-great-grandchildren, an honorary daughter, Connie Williams of 
Waynesboro; and his sister and brother-in-law, Ann and Louis Foxworth of 
Waynesboro.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia "Pat" Williams; his 
parents, Dora E. and Oscar A. Williams, Sr.; four brothers, Oscar A. 
"Bill" Williams, Hershel "Lit" Williams, Prentis Ray Williams and Hugh 
Wayne Williams; five sisters, Mable Snellrove, Masie Langley, Grace 
Burgess, Mary Styron and Lillie Williams; a great-granddaughter, Zoey 
Hilverding; and a great-grandson, Kolby Miller.

Funeral services for Timothy "Timp" Johnson, Sr., 62, of Shubuta, were 
conducted on Saturday, April 19, 2025 from Mt. Levy U.M. Church in 
Matherville, with Elder Eddie Land, Jr., and Dr. Marjorie Walker 
officiating.
Interment followed at the church cemetery.
Born on Jan. 10, 1963, he was a Window Installer.
He died on Wednesday, April 2, 2025 at Regency Hospital in Meridian.
He is survived by his wife, Carmen Foster Williams; three sons and a 
daughter-in-law, Timothy and PriAnna Johnson, Jr., of White Springs, 
Fla., Artance, Sr., and Zarron; five brothers and three sisters-in-law, 
O.B. and Annie Johnson, Willie Early and Pinkie Johnson of Hialeah, 
Fla., Kirk and Beth Godfrey of Miami, Fla., Stephen Godfrey of Homewood, 
Ill., and Scott Godfrey of Silas, Ala.; eight grandchildren; his mother, 
Mary Ellen Godfrey; his life partner, Rose Williams; a goddaughter and 
two godsons.
He was preceded in death by his father, his grandparents and a son, 
Charles Darod.

Graveside services for Sherry Jean Harrison Chancellor, 67, of Laurel, 
were conducted on Friday, April 18, 2025 from Shirley Place Cemetery in 
Wayne County, with Rev. Bill Myers officiating.
She was born in Laurel on Wednesday, July 31, 1957 to the late Arthur L. 
Harrison and Myrtle Busby Harrison.
She died on Monday, April 14, 2025 at her residence.
She is survived by her husband, James "Chester" Chancellor, Jr. of 
Laurel; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Sherman E. and Wanda Harrison 
and James Troy and Beverly Harrison, all of Laurel; her sister and 
brother-in-law, Margaret and Eddie Myrick of Laurel; six nieces and 
nephews, Steven Harrison, Tony Harrison, David Harrison, Jason Harrison, 
Lynn Harrison and Terri White; 11 great-nieces and nephews; and seven 
great-great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Myrtle Busby and Arthur L. 
Harrison.
Pallbearers were James Troy Harrison, Tony Harrison, Blake Taylor, 
Steven Harrison, Davis Harrison and Jason Harrison.

Funeral services for Curtis Wayne "Curt" Pitts, 78, of Clara, were 
conducted on Thursday, April 17, 2025 from the Chapel of Freeman Funeral 
Home, with Rev. Paul Harris officiating.
Interment followed at White House Cemetery in Waynesboro.
Born in Waynesboro on Monday, Sept. 16, 1946 to the late Curtis Pitts 
and Mattie "Tess" Carter, he served in the United States National Guard. 
He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
He retired as a Heavy Equipment Operator and Purchasing Agent for T.K. 
Stanley, Inc.
He will be remembered by his loving family for his love of music, 
playing guitar, hunting, fishing and spending time with family and 
friends.
He died on Tuesday, April 15, 2025 at his residence, surrounded by his 
loving family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Jean Holley Pitts of 
Clara; his daughter and son-in-law, Donna Jean Pitts and Mike Stevens of 
Clara; his sister and brother-in-law, Wanda and Ken Freeman of Pearland, 
Texas; his grandsons and their spouses, Brandon Wayne and Taylor Stevens 
and Matthew Aaron and Karleigh Stevens, all of Clara; two 
great-grandchildren, Bryson Wayne Stevens and Addison Holley Stevens; 
and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was perceived in death by his mother, Mattie "Tess" Carter; and his 
father, Curtis Pitts.

Funeral services for Johnnie Mae Gandy, 80, of Waynesboro, were 
conducted on Sunday, April 13, 2025 from Pleasant Grove Missionary 
Baptist Church, with Rev. Larry Pickens officiating.
Interment followed at the church cemetery.
Born on July 17, 1944, she was a retired housekeeper.
She died on Friday, April 4, 2025 at University of Mississippi Medical 
Center in Jackson.
She is survived by he husband, Breland, Gandy, Sr., of Waynesboro; two 
sons and daughters-in-law, Breland and Alice Gandy, Jr., of Waynesboro 
and Nakia and Sharetta Gandy of Atlanta, Ga.; her daughter, Debra Gandy 
of Miami, Fla.; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Burna and All 
Figgers, Eddie Mae Everett, Gretta Pray and Jan and Rayford Worsham; 10 
grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother, a sister and a brother.

Funeral services for Ollie Mae Polk-Carter, 90, of Shubuta, were 
conducted on Saturday, April 12, 2025 from Bethlehem Missionary Baptist 
Church, with Rev. Terry Jones officiating.
Interment followed at the church cemetery.
Born on Oct. 19, 1934, she was retired as a Grocery Clerk.
She died on Saturday, March 29, 2025 at Wayne General Hospital.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Cheryl Polk; 
three brothers and a sister-in-law, James Polk, Willie Polk and John 
Wesley "J.W." and Susie Polk; three sisters, Irene Polk, Ida Lee Polk 
and Pauline Bade; four grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a daughter and 
two brothers.
