JOSEPH L. "JODY" ASHLEY
June 2, 1967-March 9, 2025
A private service for Joseph L. "Jody" Ashley, 57, of Waynesboro, 
will be conducted at a later date by the family.
Born on Friday, June 2, 1967, he was the son of Jimmie and Joe Ashley. 
He retired from the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and 
Parks, then served two terms as Wayne County Sheriff.
He died on Sunday, March 9, 2025 at Wayne General Hospital.
He is survived by his mother, Jimmie Ashley of Waynesboro; his daughter 
and son-in-law, Madison and Kelton Grice of Moselle; his brother and 
sister-in-law, Jason and Kelli Ashley of Purvis; and two grandchildren, 
Oakley Mae Grice and Knox Carter Grice.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joe Ashley.
Freeman Funeral Home of Waynesboro is in charge of arrangements.

Sept. 10, 1955-March 5, 2025
Funeral services for Sheron Cochran, 69, of Waynesboro, were conducted 
on Saturday, March 8, 2025 from the Chapel of Freeman Funeral Home, with 
Rev. Paul Harris officiating.
Interment followed at White House Cemetery.
Born in Waynesboro on Saturday, Sept. 10, 1955 to Faye and Rev. Aubrey 
Cook, she was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She retired from the 
Billing Office at Wayne General Hospital.
She died on Wednesday, March 5, 2025 at Wayne General Hospital.
She is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Ray Cochran of 
Waynesboro; her parents, Faye and Rev. Aubrey Cook of Waynesboro; her 
son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Miranda Cochran of Waynesboro; two 
daughters and sons-in-law, Sheron Renee and Danny Wade of Biloxi and 
Rachel and Christopher Malcom of Toxey, Ala.; her brother and 
sister-in-law, C.A. and Sherry Cook of Clara; two sisters and 
brothers-in-law, Charlotte and Huey Anderson of State Line and Karen and 
Kevin Deese of Yellow Pine, Ala.; 13 grandchildren and their respective 
spouses, Jacob and Jayce, Meaghan, Connor, Benn, Sam, Lydia, Callie, 
Susanna, Caden, Madelyn, Aubree, Daniel and Jonathan; four 
great-grandchildren, Ridge, Emma, Eyvi and Lukas; and a host of nieces 
and nephews.
