MARY LOUISE JAMES

Funeral services for Mary Louise James, 86, of State Line, were 
conducted on Saturday, March 1, 2025 from Chicora First Baptist Church, 
with Rev. Mitchell Smith and Rev. Michael Beckwith officiating.
Interment followed at Pine Grove/Mason Cemetery in Wayne County.
Born in Wayne County on Wednesday, April 6, 1938 to the late Mageolean 
and Gaines Patrick Hinton, she was a member of First Baptist Church of 
Chicora. She retired as a Bookkeeper for the Wayne County School Board, 
working in both Buckatunna and Clara Schools.
She died on Friday, Feb. 28, 2025 at Asbury Hospice House in 
Hattiesburg.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Douglas and Stacey James 
of Laurel; two daughters and a son-in-law, Debbie and David Hudson of 
State Line and Detria Little of Petal; seven grandchildren and their 
respective spouses, Tashia and Harold White, Jeremy and Betsy Hudson, 
Stasia and Charlie Setliff, Andrew and Sarah Little, Patrick and Laren 
James, Cameron and Courtney James and Lindsey James; and a host of 
great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward James; and her parents, 
Mageolean and Gaines Patrick Hinton.

SHELTON OVERSTREET
Dec. 28, 1961-Feb. 24, 2025
Funeral services for Shelton Overstreet, 63, of the Strengthford 
Community, were conducted on Saturday, March 1, 2025 from the Chapel of 
Jones and Son Funeral Home in Richton, with Brother Charles Mayo and 
Brother Shane Dykes officiating.
Interment followed at Strengthford Congregational Holiness Church 
Cemetery.
Born on Dec. 28, 1961, he attended Landmark Church in Ovett. He retired 
from Paris Trucking of Laurel after five years of service and worked for 
35 years with Boyles Roofing of Waynesboro. He was an avid hunter and 
fisherman.
He died on Monday, Feb. 24, 2025 in Hattiesburg.
He is survived by his wife, Joy Lynn Brewer Overstreet of the 
Strengthford Community; his stepdaughters and their spouses, Kolena and 
Austin Wilson of Richton and Breanna and Gerritt Gregg of the 
Strengthford Community; his grandchildren, Lexi Freeman, Michaela 
Freeman, J.B. Hensarling, Clay Gregg, Landon Minter, Jaxon Daley and 
Kash Wilson; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Shelia and George Barnett 
and Retta Barnett, all of the Evergreen Community; his nephew and his 
spouse, Ryan and Tanya Barnett of the Evergreen Community; his niece and 
her spouse, Dr. Tekia and Brandan Fowler of Auburn, Ala.; his 
great-nephews, Wyatt Barnett and Connor Barnett; and his great-niece, 
Avery Fowler.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Gail Overstreet; his son, 
Eric Overstreet; his parents, Braze and Gertrude Overstreet; and his 
sister, Genetta Lawson.
Serving as pallbearers were Jimmy Dean, Austin Wilson, Gerritt Gregg, 
Blake Hensarling, Steven Overstreet and Ryan Barnett. Serving as 
honorary pallbearers were Wyatt Barnett, Connor Barnett, Clay Gregg, 
J.C. Hensarling and Kash Wilson.
Jones and Son Funeral Home of Richton was in charge of arrangements.
COLICE LEWIS

Funeral services for Colice Lewis, 89, of Shubuta, were conducted on 
Friday, Feb. 28, 2025 from Latter Rain Church of God in Christ, with 
Pastor Micha Scott officiating.
Born on Sept. 9, 1935, she was a Homemaker.
She died on Monday, Feb. 24, 2025 in Shubuta.
She is survived by her sons, Johnny Lewis of Shubuta, Frank Lewis and 
Mitchell Lewis, both of Richmond, Calif.; her siblings, Lettie Morris of 
Hattiesburg and Crystal Cooley of Shubuta; and 10 grandchildren, 
Tamario, Lenard, Frank, Jr., Demonte, Dame, Arsimmi, Arkendra, Arzanna, 
Kenshawn and Katie.
She was preceded in death by her husband, F.M. Lewis; her sons, Dorthel 
Lewis and Michael Lewis; her sister, Willie Bolden; and her brothers, 
Walter, L.B., Willie, Lenoard, Charles and Roosevelt Cooley.
McDonald and Sons Funeral Home of Waynesboro was in charge of

Elaine Irwin, 61 — loving mother of two and adoring wife of husband, 
Ron Irwin — died on Jan. 20, 2025.
Born to Robert and Sarah Hendry in Waynesboro, she moved with her 
husband Ron and family to set roots in Cleveland, Tenn.
She was a trailblazing entrepreneur. She built a successful business at 
the young age of 30 that continues to have immense prosperity under her 
daughter,r Jaylan Irwin.
She was an inspiration to all those around her. She was compassionate 
and would do anything for anyone. She encouraged both daughters to 
follow their dreams. She was a beloved daughter, wife, mother and 
grandmother.
She was a wonderful mother and exceptional grandmother to Keller, Aidan 
and Bristol. Coming from a large family, she was loved by her nieces, 
nephews and cousins.
Her grandchildren brought immeasurable joy into her life. She reveled in 
heir laughter, nurtured their dreams and imparted on them the profound 
importance of kindness and empathy. These cherished moments with the 
ensures her legacy and compassion will continue through the generations.
She will be greatly missed by her family, especially her mother, Sarah 
Hendry; her husband, Ron Irwin; and two daughters, Brittany and Jaylan 
Irwin.
She is survived by her husband, Ron Irwin; her daughters, Jaylan and 
Brittany Irwin; her grandchildren, Keller, Aidan and Bristol; her 
mother, Sarah Hendry; and her brothers, Ronny and Patrick Hendry.
She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Hendry; and her sister, 
Deborah Straub.
