WILLARD FREEMAN HOLCOMB

Funeral services for Willard Freeman Holcomb, 97, of Waynesboro, were 
conducted on Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2024 from the Chapel of Freeman Funeral 
Home.
Interment followed at Waynesboro Cemetery.
Born in Waynesboro on Sunday, July 17, 1927 to the late William W. and 
Carrie Burge Freeman, she was a member of First Methodist Church of 
Waynesboro. She retired as Owner and Operator of Holcomb Monument 
Company and The Potluck Shoppe. 
She lived a very full life. She enjoyed motorcycle riding with her late 
husband, bridge parties with her friends and traveling abroad.
She died on Friday, Dec. 13, 2024 at Robertsdale Health and 
Rehabilitation in Robertsdale, Ala.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl Holcomb and Larry 
P. Holley of Foley, Ala.; two granddaughteers, Sheila Rene Jordan of 
Atlanta, Ga., and Jessica Lynn Jordan of Sunset Beach, N.C.; four 
great-grandchildren, Gunnar Blake Jordan, Coleton Louis Jordan, Braiden 
Nathaniel Hollingsworth and Remington Lynn Goodfriend; her nephew and 
his spouse, Harrel and Carlton Freeman; her niece, Emily Freeman; and a 
host of great-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Holcomb, Sr.; her 
parents, William W. and Carrie Freeman; two sons, Willard "Woody" 
Holcomb and Louis "Lou" Franklin Holcomb, Jr.; two brothers, Don Freeman 
and Harry B. Freeman; and her sister, Jane Freeman.

JAMES R. "BEARTRACK" ANDERSON
March 8, 1940-Dec. 11, 2024
Funeral services for James R. "Beartrack" Anderson, 84, of Heidelberg, 
were conducted on Monday, Dec. 16, 2024 from Mt. Nebo Baptist Church in 
Bay Springs, with Rev. Bill Myers officiating.
Interment followed at Mt. Nebo Cemetery in Bay Springs.
Born in Athens, Ga., on Friday, March 8, 1940 to Andrew D. and Lucille 
P. Anderson, he served in the United States Army. He was a member of 
Lee's Chapel Freewill Baptist Church and was retired as a Land Research 
Agent for Texas Instruments Geophysical Services Incorporated.
He died on Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2024 at his residence, surrounded by his 
loving family.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Vivian and Joe Gatlin of 
Shubuta; two sons and daughters-in-law, Tony and Tina Stiles of 
Heidelberg and Brian K. and Misty Stiles of College Station, Texas; his 
brother, Tim Anderson of Center, Texas; his sister, Helen Keys of 
Waynesboro; nine grandchildren and their respective spouses, Grant and 
Caity Gatlin, Gabi Gatlin, Makenna Gatlin, Justice Pitts, Brock Stiles, 
Ryder Stiles, Presley Stiles, Jonathan and Tessa Windham and Shane and 
Teaira Windham; five great-grandchildren, Niall, Anna, Griffin, Barrett 
and Parker; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Nana L. Anderson; his second 
wife, Tommie S. Anderson; his parents, Andrew D. and Lucille P. 
Anderson; his son, Michael G. Anderson; his granddaughter, Emily Gatlin; 
his great-granddaughter, Shaylene Gatlin; four brothers and four 
sisters.
Pallbearers were Bruce Strickland, Dwain Strickland, Tim Dyess, Eddie 
Keyes, Brock Stiles, Ryder Stiles and Niall Gatlin.

RHONDA KAY LEVERETTE
Feb. 2, 1965-Dec. 3, 2024
Funeral services for Rhonda Kay Leverette, 59, of Wayne County, were 
conducted on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2024 from Philadelphia Missionary 
Baptist Church, with Rev. Darron Chapman officiating.
Interment followed at the church cemetery.
Born on Feb. 2, 1965, she died on Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2024 at Forrest 
General Hospital in Hattiesburg.
She is survived by her husband, Bruce Leverette; her son and 
daughter-in-law, Berlin and Chassity Davis; her siblings and their 
respective spouses, Hurbert and Rhonda Davis, Sheila and Alfred Hill, 
Jaculine and George Miller, Evon Henderson and Frederick and Yolanda 
Davis; two grandsons, David Jordan, Jr., and Willo Kade Davis; nine 
in-laws and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins and other 
relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Willo and Girth Lee; her 
sister, Willa Dean; and a nephew, Derrick Rayshod Davis.

MELVIN EDWARD FREEMAN
Sept. 23, 1936-Dec. 3, 2024
Funeral services for Melvin Edward Freeman, 88, of Cleveland, Tenn., 
were conducted on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2024 from the Chapel of Freeman 
Funeral Home, with Rev. Glenn Freeman and Rev. Ray Newsome officiating.
Interment followed at Serenity Gardens Cemetery in Waynesboro.
Born in Wayne County on Wednesday, Sept. 23, 1936 to Melvin Freeman and 
Etta Freeman, he served for 10 years in the United States Air Force and 
was a Veteran of the Korean War. He retired as a Manager in Oil and Gas 
Production.
He died on Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2024 at his residence.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Sibyle Langley Freeman of 
Cleveland; his daughter, Sherrye Freeman Seiter of Cleveland; two 
grandchildren and their spouses, Caitlin Noel Seiter and Adam Gregory 
Smith of Riceville, Tenn., and Cortney Lyn Seiter and Dillon Mark Clift 
of Soddy, Tenn; and his sister, Allen Rigney of Waynesboro.
He was preceded in death by his father, Melvin Freeman; his mother, Etta 
Freeman; and two brothers, William Earl Freeman and Charles Cecil 
Freeman.
Pallbearers were Adam Smith, Dillon Clift, Alan Seiter, Jay Hutto, Bruce 
Langley and Patric Langley.

KENNETH "KEN" DALE LAND
May 26, 1935
Kenneth "Ken" Dale Land, 89, of Manistique, Mich., died peaceful at his 
home under hospice care with his family by his side. In accordance with 
the family's wishes, no services will be conducted at this time.
Born on May 26, 1935 to Wallace Land and Verma Louise Meredith Land, he 
ws a graduate of Sexton High School in Lansing, Mich., and earned his 
Associates Degree from Pensacola Junior College.
As a young man, he joined the Navy and so began a career lasting 22-1/2 
years. He became an Aircraft Mechanic and an Air Crew Rescue team 
member. In 1960, he married his love, Helene "Carole" ott, and together 
created the million-dollar family with one son and one daughter.
He spent the greater part of his live living in Waynesboro until, one 
day, he and Carole decided to move on a whim to the Upper Peninsula. He 
joined the Masonic Lodge and became a member of the Coast Guard 
Auxiliary. He was a member of the Grand Lagoon Yacht Club.
He loved to go boating and being on the water. Hunting and deep-sea 
fishing were among his most favorite things to do. He was well traveled, 
visiting all 50 states and spreading his wings across the Atlantic Ocean 
to enjoy the beautiful culture, tastes, sounds, romance and joy of life 
that is Italy.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Carole; his son, Keith Land of 
Waynesboro; his daughter and son-in-law, Heather and Mike Roessier of 
Manistique; his brothers and sister-in-law, William and Jackie Land and 
Ronald Land, both of Lansing; his sister and brother-in-law, Judy and 
Jerry Brija of Lansing; his granddaughter, Ashleigh; and his 
great-grandchildren, Dillon and Emma.
He was preceded in death by his son, Kyle; his parents, Wallace and 
Verma; and his sister, Barbara.
Memorial donations may be directed to the Masonic Lodge in Myrtle Grove, 
Fla.
