War Eagles advance, Jaguars drop semifinal heartbreaker
Wayne County High School rolled through the first round of playoff action Friday night while the Jaguars of Wayne Academy saw their season end with a heartbreaking loss in the Class 4A state semifinals Friday.
WCHS raced past South Jones, 42-14, and now travel to Gautier (a 36-30 winner over Natchez) for a second round contest. The War Eagles dominated every aspect of the contest.
The Jaguars jumped out to a 10-0 lead over Bowling Green (La.) in the state semifinals, only to see the Buccs scored once in the first half and then use a blocked punt in the third quarter to take the lead they would not relinquish the rest of the way.
