L.B. ODOM

Graveside services for L.B. Odom, 100, of Matherville, were conducted on 
Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2024 from Geneva Cemetery in Matherville, with Rev. 
Mike Ahlberg and Rev. Ben McLain officiating.
Born in Matherville on Saturday, May 24, 1924 to William "Willie" 
Thomas Odom and Ada Cooley Odom, he was a member and Elder of Geneva 
Presbyterian Church.
He served in the United States Army and was a Veteran of World War II, 
serving 27 months with Combat Engineers. He was self-employed at Green 
Hill Farms and was known for raising Polled Hereford Bulls. He also 
established the Matherville Park.
He died on Friday, Nov. 8, 2024 at Wayne General Hospital.
He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Billie Bailey Odom of 
Matherville; two sons and daughters-in-law, Sanford and Carolyn Odom of 
Waynesboro and Brad and Marsha Odom of Quitman; four grandchildren and 
their respective spouses, Grant Odom, Kennon Odom, Kylie Odom and 
Isabella and Hunter Burkett; and a great-grandchild, Sadie Burkett.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Thomas Odom; his mother, 
Ada Cooley Odom; two brothers, Loys Odom and Laudric Odom; and his 
sister, Maysel Harrison.

JIMMY V. KIRKLAND
Aug. 26, 1958-Nov. 6, 2024
Funeral services for Jimmy V. Kirkland, 66, of the Red Creek Community 
in Millry, Ala., were conducted on Monday, Nov. 11, 2024 from Flat 
Branch Church in Millry, with Rev. Jim Koen and Rev. Junior Brewer 
officiating.
Interment followed at Flat Branch Cemetery in Millry.
Born in Waynesboro on Tuesday, Aug. 26, 1958 to the late Vinel V. and 
Florie (Miller) Kirkland, he was also affectionately known as Babe, 
Daddy, Pawpaw, Uncle Jimmy and Dead Eye, but most of all he was a good 
friend and encourager to everyone.
He was a very active and dedicated member of Flat Branch Church, where 
he served as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. He retired as Co-Owner 
and Operator of Kirkland Timber, Inc., where he got to work alongside 
his brother, "Cool," and oldest son, Nick, for many years in which 
he taught the love of logging from a very young age.
He loved his Savior, Jesus Christ, family, church and friends and always 
put Christ first above all in everything he did. He enjoyed barbecues, 
hunting, fishing, church and teaching all his grandkids funny little 
jokes, sayings and dangerous ways to fixing something the "Pawpaw 
Jimmy Way." He loved running his rabbit dogs --- in which he 
"actually" cooked hot meals for --- gardening and raising all his 
animals.
He died on Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2024 at USA Health Providence Hospital in 
Mobile, Ala., surrounded by his loving family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Carline Kirkland of 
Millry; two sons and daughters-in-law, Nick and Malorie Kirkland of 
Millry and Damon V. and Jammie Kirkland of Waynesboro; his daughter, 
Carola Pryor of Milly; nine grandchildren and their respective spouses, 
Makenna and Mason Holston, Landen Carlisle, Emalynn Kirkland, Elie 
Carlisle, Khloe' Kirkland, Scarlett Kirkland, Bryston Kirkland, Peyton 
Pryor and Lakynn Kirkland; his step-granddaughters, Kiley and Aubrey 
Stevison; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Cynthia Chestang of 
Millry, Sara and Wesley Dixon of Millry and Linda and Kevin Lipps of 
Laurel; his sister-in-law, Jean Kirkland of Millry; and a host of nieces 
and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vinel V. and Florie Kirkland; 
his granddaughter, Kerrington Kirkland; his sister, Vivian Prather; and 
his brother, William Wendell Kirkland.

BARBARA HELEN MCLAIN

Funeral services for Barbara Helen McLain, 81, of Waynesboro, were 
conducted on Saturday, Nov. 9, 2024 from the Chapel of Freeman Funeral 
Home, with Rev. Rickey Williams and Rev. Mike Ainsworth officiating.
Interment followed at McLain Chapel Cemetery in Waynesboro.
Born in Waynesboro on Friday, Dec. 4, 1942 to William Hutcherson and 
Maggie Hutcherson, she was a member of First Pentecostal Church.
She died on Monday, Nov. 4, 2024 at Wayne General Hospital.
She is survived by her son, Michael Lee Hutcherson of Waynesboro; two 
daughters, Carolyn Ann Beasley of Waynesboro and Melissa Miller of 
Purvis; five grandchildren and their respective spouses, Nicky and John 
Thompson, Becky and Matt Singley, Justin and Heidi Hutcherson, Kristen 
Hutcherson and Frankie Miller; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Arthur McLain; her 
father, William Hutcherson; her mother, Maggie Hutcherson; two brothers 
and five sisters.
Pallbearers were Matt Singley, John Thompson, Frankie Miller, Justin 
Hutcherson, Hunter Williams and Josh Williams. Honorary pallbearers were 
Brian Cherry and Alex McCarty.

BETTY DEAN GREEN

Funeral services for Betty Dean Green, 69, of Waynesboro, were conducted 
on Saturday, Nov. 9, 2024 from the Chapel of Freeman Funeral Home, with 
Rev. Edward Bean officiating.
Interment followed at Big Rock Cemetery in Waynesboro.
Born in Seminary on Saturday, Jan. 1, 1955 to Jake Fowler and Betty 
Fowler, she was a Charter Member of Harvest Temple Church. She worked as 
a Convenience Store Manager.
She died on Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2024 in Waynesboro.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, James E. "Bubba" and 
Sebrina Stokley of Clara; two daughters and sons-in-law, Cassie and 
Chris Arender of Pearl and Stephanie and Jeremy Beard of Clara; her 
sister, Ruby Street of Magee; seven grandchildren and their respective 
spouses, Caitlyn Arender, Cailee Arender, Lane Stokley, Nichole Stokley, 
Saige Stokley, Malroy and Jonathan Dean and Chandler Beard; and two 
great-grandsons, Jhett Beard and Jessie Dean.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Green; her father, Jake 
Fowler; her mother, Betty Fowler; and a grandson, Wade Stokley.
Pallbearers were Jon Dean, Michael Cheeks, Jacob Cheeks, Mason Coxwell, 
Chandler Beard and Lane Stokley.

Graveside services for Mary Josette Mosley, 56, of Ellisville, were 
conducted on Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2024 from Goodwater Cemetery in Clarke 
County, with Rev. Pat Patterson and Rev. Mickey Walls officiating.
Born in Laurel on Sunday, Aug. 4, 1968 to Lee Mosley and Shirley Mosley, 
she was a member of Eucutta Independent Church.
She died on Friday, Nov. 1, 2024 in Ellisville.
She is survived by her father, Lee Mosley; her brother and 
sister-in-law, Kenney and Becky Mosley of Shubuta; her sister and 
brother-in-law, Debbie and Rodney Winn of Shubuta; and several nieces 
and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Shirley Mosley; and her sister, 
Cindy Marie Herrington.
