The Mississippi Bureau of Investigations has taken over a case involving
the Tuesday night shooting death of a man in the Buckatunna area.
According to Wayne County Sheriff's Department Investigator Lillian
Poole, deputies were called to the scene of a Buckatunna business at
11:39 p.m. Tuesday with a man saying he had been shot in the left leg
and was bleeding pretty badly.
Deputies and Wayne General Hospital EMS responded and found Freddie
Binder, 65, inside his vehicle. He was transported to Wayne General
where the Wayne County Coroner's Office pronounced him dead.
Poole said MBI was called in to work the case and that the investigation
is ongoing. She said investigators are looking into where the man was
located when he got shot as he tried to drive himself to the hospital
but was unable to make it.
No other information was being released at this time.
