CAROLYN STAGG
May 13, 1950-Oct. 18, 2024
A memorial service for Carolyn Stagg, 74, of Waynesboro, will be at 10 
a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26, 2024 from First Methodist Church of 
Waynesboro, with Rev. Ron Stanley, Rev. Dr. Will Dowling and Rev. James 
M. Matheny officiating. A memorial graveside service will follow at 2 
p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26, 2024 from Matherville-Horne Cemetery, 
adjacent to Geneva Presbyterian Church in Matherville. 
Born in Quitman on Saturday, May 13, 1950 to the late John E. and June 
Stagg, she was a member of First Methodist Church of Waynesboro, She 
worked as a Self-Emplooyed Music Teacher.
She died on Friday, Oct. 18, 2024 at Brookwood Villa Personal Care Home 
in Waynesboro.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, John David and Katherine 
Stagg of Readyville, Tenn.; her brother and sister-in-law, Fred and 
Kathy Stagg; and two granddaughters, June Staff and Linley Stagg.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Smith; and her parents, 
John E. and June Stagg.

LARRED PORTER GANDY
June 24, 2004-Oct. 9, 2024
A memorial service for Larred Porter Gandy, 20, of Waynesboro, were 
conducted on Monday, Oct. 21, 2024 from the Chapel of Freeman Funeral 
Home, with Rev. Nick Birmingham and Rev. Dixie Holder-Cummings 
officiating.
Interment followed at Hebron Cemetery in Waynesboro.
Born in Meridian on Thursday, June 24, 2004 to Frank and Melissa Gandy, 
he worked as a Welder with Future Fuel in Batesville, Ark. He attended 
Hebron United Methodist Church in Waynesboro.
He dearly loved his fiancee, Dixie; his family, friends and his dogs, 
Freckles and Chunk. He never met a stranger and added a ray of sunshine 
to everyone's life that he touched. He was an avid outdoorsman who 
loved hunting and fishing. He had a deep passion for welding and loved 
his welding family.
He died on Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2024 in Arkansas.
He is survived by his parents, Frank and Melissa Gandy of Waynesboro; 
his fiancee, Dixie Barnes of Melbourne, Ark.; his sister, Madison Gandy 
of Waynesboro; his paternal grandparents, Larry and Pat Gandy of 
Waynesboro; his nephew, Kadyn Peabody; his uncle and aunt, Ben and Emily 
Gandy of Waynesboro; two aunts and uncles, Linda and Chris Cox of 
Hamilton, Ala., and Brenda and Paula Benefield of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; and 
a host of cousins, friends and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Sue Bell; and his 
uncle, Edward Gandy.
Honorary pallbears were Kadin Johnston, Colin Trigg, Jaren Long, Gavin 
Floyd, Ayden Barnes, Sidney Bell and the Pearl River crew.
In lieu of flowers, the family has set up a welding scholarship fund to 
be used at Arkansas Elite Welding Academy in memory of Porter. All 
donations will go to the "Porter Gandy Memorial Welding Fund" at 
First State Bank, P.O. Box 506, Waynesboro, MS 39367 to help others 
pursue their dream of becoming a welder.
