VANCE CEBORN DEARMAN

April 17, 1938-July 20, 2024

Funeral services for Vance Ceborn Dearman, 86, of Waynesboro were

conducted on Tuesday, July 23, 2024 from the Chapel of Freeman Funeral

Home, with Rev. Edward Gatlin officiating.

Interment followed at Serenity Gardens Cemetery in Waynesboro.

Born in Wayne County on Sunday, April 17, 1938 to the late Nathan and

Agnus Kirkland Dearman, he retired as Owner and Operator of Dearman

Logging. His family will always remember him for his love of gardening

and fighting the crows and birds from eating his crops.

He died on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at his residence.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Jeanette Dearman of

Waynesboro; his son and daughter-in-law, Anthony "Tony" and Charlotte

Dearman of Waynesboro; his daughter, Margaret Ann Dearman Briggs of

Tupelo; his sister and brother-in-law, Versie and Harold Ray Sullivan of

Millry, Ala.; three grandchildren and their respective spouses, Jason

Briggs of Tupelo, Danielle and Andrew Hutto and Dallas and Tyler Rowell,

all of Waynesboro; and nine great-grandchildren, Avery, Grant, Gavin,

Charli Ana, Jack, Cooper, Eli, Bryana and Alexandria.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Nathan and Agnus Kirkland

Dearman; his daughter, Vanessa Wynette Dearman; three brothers, Stance

Dearman, Julius Dearman and Russell Dearman; and five sisters, Mavis

Corley, Phyllis Wells, Elvis West, Elva Sturdivant and Minerva Robinson.

JOHNNY EDWARD SHOEMAKER

Aug. 22, 1956-July 3, 2024

Funeral services for Johnny Edward Shoemaker, 67, of Waynesboro, were

conducted on Friday, July 5, 2024 from Corinth Free Will Baptist Church

in Waynesboro, with Rev. Ronald Nowell, Rev. Jarrod Vanderslice and Rev.

Larry Reynolds officiating.

Interment followed at Corinth Free Will Baptist Cemetery in Wayne

County.

Born in Waynesboro on Wednesday, Aug. 22, 1956 to the late Roy and

Roberta Shoemaker, he was a member of Corinth Free Will Baptist Church.

He retired as a Heavy Equipment Operator with Maverick Construction.

He was a man of deep faith whose love for the Lord and his family

defined his life. He was a hardworking man, dedicated himself to

providing for his wife and loved ones and lived his life with integrity

and diligence.

He found his greatest joy outdoors, where he could often be found

fishing, hunting and enjoying God's creations. His strength and

perseverance were evident in his fight against cancer, a battle he faced

with remarkable courage and grace.

His unwavering faith provided comfort and inspiration to all who knew

him. He leaves behind a family who adored him and will forever cherish

his memory. His legacy is one of love, faith and hard work. He will be

remembered for his gentle spirit, steadfast devotion and the joy he

brought to those around him.

He died on Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at Wayne General Hospital after a

courageous battle with cancer. He is now receiving his ultimate healing

in the presence of the Lord.

He is survived by his loving wife of 14 years, Debora "Debbie" Shoemaker

of Waynesboro; two sons, Randy Harper and Lee Shoemaker, both of

Quitman; his daughter and son-in-law, LaBreeska and Sam Atkinson of

Sylvester, Ga.; two sisters, Barbara Broadway of Laurel and Shirley

Hazelwood of Waynesboro; five grandchildren and a host of nieces and

nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Roberta Shoemaker; and

his brother, Leroy Shoemaker.
