A man charged with manslaughter has now had his case dismissed and ruled
as self defense.
According to Justice Court Judge Charles Chapman, a preliminary hearing
was conducted before him on Thursday afternoon. Asking for the
preliminary hearing was Jamorieyus Keundre Kittler, 35, of Ramsey Road.
He was charged early Monday morning with manslaughter after an incident
late Sunday night.
When deputies arrived on the scene, they found that Jeffery Ramey, 50,
had been wounded by a knife. Ramey later died from his wounds.
Kittler made his initial appearance on Monday and bond was set at $1
million. At that time, he requested the preliminary hearing, which must
be conducted within 14 days after the initial appearance.
Chapman said the case was dismissed on Thursday afternoon.
"Both the state and defense presented to the court during the
preliminary hearing," Chapman said. "Based on the evidence presented,
the case was ruled as self defense and has been dismissed."
