VIRGINIA STABLER COPELAND

Funeral services for Virginia Stabler Copeland, 94, of Waynesboro, will
be at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 7, 2023 from the Chapel of Freeman Funeral
Home, with Rev. Mitchell Smith officiating. Visitation will be from
9:30-11 a.m. on Friday, July 7, 2023 from the Parlor of Freeman Funeral
Home.
Following the funeral service, interment will take place at White House
Cemetery.
Born on Monday, Aug. 20, 1928 to Samuel George Stabler and Georgia
Stabler, she was a member of Clara First Baptist Church. She worked as
an Examination Specialist with the United States Postal Service until
her retirement.
She died on Saturday, July 1, 2023 at Brookwood Villa Personal Care
Home.
She is survived by two sisters, Mildred T. Mizell of Buckatunna and
Georgia Faye Sheffield of Mobile, Ala.; her granddaughter, Tammy
Reidenbach; two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Samuel George Stabler; her
mother, Georgia Stabler; her son, Roy Edward Camp; four sisters, Hazel
F. Thames, Edna "Billy" McCarty, Sammy Louise Stabler and Irma West.

CORNELIA MAE HICKMON
Aug. 22, 1953-July 2, 2023
Funeral services for Cornleia Mae Hickmon, 69, of Laurel, were conducted
on Wednesday, July 5, 2023 from the Chapel of Freeman Funeral Home, with
Rev. Bart Whitehead officiating.
Interment followed at Strengthford Congregational Cemetery in Wayne
County.
Born in Waynesboro on Saturday, Aug. 22, 1953 to the late Talmadge and
Myrtle Hickmon, she retired as a Certified Nursing Assistant with
Charity Hospital in Laurel.
She died on Sunday, July 2, 2023 at Wayne General Hospital, surrounded
by her loving family.
She is survived by two brothers and a sister-in-law, Tommy and Kendra
Hickmon and Donald Hickmon; all of Laurel; three sisters and two
brothers-in-law, Carolyn Hodge of Laurel, Juanita and David Langley and
Terry and Craig Carey, all of Waynesboro; her sister-in-law, Karen
Hickmon of Laurel; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Talmadge and Myrtle Hickmon;
two brothers, Gaston Hickmon and T.C. Hickmon; a brother-in-law, James
Hodge; and a sister-in-law, Angie Hickmon.
Pallbearers were Dwayne Newsome, Tony Hickmon, Cameron Stewart, Tyler
Hickmon, Craig Carey and Martin Sumrall. Honorary pallbearer was David
Langley.

JOAN DAVIS
Oct. 19, 1937-June 30, 2023
Funeral services for Joan Davis, 85, of Hiwannee, were conducted on
Monday, July 3, 2023 from the Chapel of Freeman Funeral Home, with Rev.
Bo Farrior and Rev. Ron Stanley officiating.
Interment followed at West Shady Grove Cemetery.
Born in Ellisville on Oct. 19, 1937 to the late James Vester Cooksey and
the late Dollie Rhoda Hester Morris, she was a charter member of
Riverside Baptist Church. She retired from Wayne General Hospital after
34 years of dedicated service.
She died on Friday, June 30, 2023 at her residence, surrounded by her
loving family.
She is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Tony and JoAnn Davis of
Hiwannee; three daughters and sons-in-law, Cathy and David Maroney of
Hiwannee, Lynn and Bobby Noland of Sweetwater, Ala., and Martha and Guy
DeSantis of Frannie, Wyo.; two brothers, Jerry Andrews of Theodore,
Ala., and Carol Cooksey of Waynesboro; two sisters and a brother-in-law,
, Janice McMahan of Pascagoula and Judy and Willie Branning of
Maryville, Tenn.; 10 grandchildren, Keith Maroney, Brandy Smith, Brandy
Turner, Randi Stewart, Matthew Burnett, Jeremy Noland, Robert Nolan,
Gregory Nolan, Nyla DeSantis and Natasha DeSantis; and 23
great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by the love of her live of 59 years, GB Davis;
and a brother, Larry Cooksey.

WILLIAM ROBERTUS "BERT" MCREE
May 4, 1969-June 28, 2023
Graveside services for William Robertus "Bert" McRee, 54, of Shubuta,
were conducted on Sunday, July 2, 2023 from Odd Fellows Cemetery, with
Rev. Dennis Coats and Dr. Gene Neal officiating.
Born on May 4, 1969 to Roderick and Jerrye (Williams) McRee in Meridian,
he was a member of Desoto Baptist Church and attended First Baptist
Church of Quitman for several years. He served on the Board of Directors
for the Clarke County Co-Op.
He worked for IFCO (International Forestry Company) in Shubuta, where
they raise pine seedlings. He loved farm life and taking care of his
cattle and animals. He was an outstanding athlete who excelled in all
sports.
He died on Wednesday, June 28, 2023.
He is survived by his wife, Shelly Hailes McRee; two daughters, Kaitlyn
Elizabeth McRee and Sarah Julianna McRee; his son, James William "Will"
McRee; his father, Roderick McRee; his mother, Jerrye McRee; his sister
and brother-in-law, Stephanie and Brad Penn; his mother-in-law and her
spouse, Kay and James Sanderson; his brother and sister-in-law, Andrew
Phillip and Samantha Hailes; his nieces and nephews and their respective
spouses, Ethan and Brandi Howell, Ashton Howell, Corban Penn, Andrew
Weston Hailes and Thomas Kash Hailes; his great-niece, Jolee Howell; his
great-nephew, Gunner Howell; and his grandmother-in-law, Sara Frances
Hailes.
Pallbearers were Robbie Mason, David Cochran, Tom Anderson, Mike
Culbreth, Ernie Culbreth, Jeffery Gibbs, Lyle Keenan and Scotty Fleming.

conducted on Sunday, July 2, 2023 from Yellow Pine Cemetery in
Washington County, Ala., with Rev. Jim Koen officiating.
Born in Waynesboro on Wednesday, Nov. 4, 1970 to George Sidney and
Sandra Buckley Beasley, he worked as a Driller for Precision Drilling.
He died on Friday, June 20, 2023 at University of Mississippi Medical
Center in Jackson, surrounded by his loving family.
He is survived by his parents, George Sidney and Sandra Buckley Beasley
of Millry; two daughters, Hannah Noel Gracierae Beasley of Pascagoula
and Jaden Leona Rayne Beasley of Buckatunna; his brother and
sister-in-law, Sidney Ray and Lynette Beasley of Millry; his sister and
brother-in-law, Katherine Renae and Richard Lewis of Leakesville; his
grandson, Houston Gray Loper; two nephews, Austin Chandlier Lewis and
Darrell Blake Turner; and a niece, Sydney Elizabeth Beasley.

Born in Waynesboro on Monday, Dec. 10, 1951 to Robert P. Holley and
Eunita Irene Holley, she attended Harvest Temple Church. She was a
Homemaker.
She died on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at Pine View Health and
Rehabilitation Center.
She is survived by her husband, Billy Lofton of Waynesboro; two sons and
daughters-in-law, Brad and Karen Lofton of Waynesboro and Chad and
Gentry Lofton of Jackson; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Robert
Lynn and Venett Holley of Eucutta, Richard Holley of Waynesboro and
Ernie and Becky Holley of Waynesboro; a sister and brother-in-law, Jean
and Curtis Wayne Pitts of Clara; four grandchildren, Austin Willey,
Heather Smith, Colby Lofton and Lyric Lofton; and three
great-grandchildren, Marissa Smith, Emerson Lofton and Morana Lofton.
She was preceded in death by her father, Robert P. Holley; her mother,
Eunita Irene Holley; a son, Billy Lofton, Jr.; and a brother, Rodney G.
