CREOLA CHRISTMAN JONES
May 19, 1930-May 28, 2023
Visitation and services for Creola Christman Jones, 93, of Prairieville,
La., will be from 10-11 a.m. on Thursday, June 1, 2023 from Ascension
Funeral Home in Gonzales, La., and again from 10-11 a.m. on Friday, June
2, 2023 from Moments Funeral Home in Lucedale.
Interment will follow at Crossroads Methodist Church.
Born on May 19, 1930 in Calhoun County, she spent most of her life in
Wayne County, where she taught at Clara Elementary and Wayne Academy.
She also taught at Sandhill Elementary in Greene County, as well as
Clarke Academy in Clarke County. She had a true love for teaching and is
fondly remembered by many of her students.
Church also played a very important role in her life. She was a member
of County Line Baptist Church in Waynesboro. She later moved to Lucedale
in the late 1990s and attended Crossroads Methodist Church in Lucedale.
In 2011, she moved to Prairieville to live with her daughter, Nancy
Braud, where she attended Meadows Chapel Methodist Church. During her
later years, she enjoyed working with church committees and groups with
her friends. She lived a life of service to others and always projected
love to all of those around her.
She died on Sunday, May 28, 2023 at home in the presence of loved ones.
She is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Mary and Bill
Davis of Hurley, Nancy and Alvin D. Braud of Prairieville and Marcia
Jones of Kuwait. She enjoyed the love of her five grandchildren and
their spouses, Amy D. and Kenley Byrd of Lucedale, Prent and Sarah Davis
of Mobile, Ala., Amanda and Jeremy Mason of Long Beach, Kristina and
Travis Thibodeaux of Prairieville and Tara and Brandon Landry of Denham
Springs, La.
She was blessed with 10 great-grandchildren, Logan and Marissa D. Byrd
of Lucedale, Brynn Sweetapple, Eaen and Trey Mason of Long Beach,
Anderson, Dylan and Darcy Thibodeaux of Prairieville and Lilith and
Alexander Landry of Denham Springs. She is also survived by many
relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Leroy Jones, who died
in 2003.

LENORA COOLEY
July 1, 1929-May 26, 2023
Funeral services for Lenora Cooley, 93, of Strengthford, were conducted
on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 from the Chapel of Freeman Funeral Home, with
Rev. Mike Street and Rev. Jimmy Harrison officiating.
Interment followed at Waller Ridge Cemetery in Wayne County.
Born in Wayne County on Monday, July 1, 1929 to the late William T.
"Bill" and Georgia B. Street, she was a Homemaker. A member of
Strengthford Church of God, she will be remembered by family and friends
as a devout Christian and servant. She was a loving wife, mother,
grandmother and friend.
She died on Friday, May 26, 2023 at Laurel Wood Community Living Center
in Laurel.
She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Shelton and Rhonda
Cooley of Heidelberg and Ronnie Cooley of Moselle; two grandchildren and
their respective spouses, Scott and Julie Cooley of Laurel and Ash and
Aimee Cooley of Strengthford; a great-grandchild, AnnClark Cooley; and a
sister-in-law, Betty Street Moody of Waynesboro.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Grady B. "Buck" Cooley;
her parents, William T. "Bill" and Georgia B. Street; a son, Ricky
Cooley; four brothers, Roy Street, Albert Street, Robert L. Street and
J.V. Street; and three sisters, Jessie Mae Pitts, Inez Jordan and
Elouise Wells.
Pallbearers were Scott Cooley, Ash Cooley, Bobby Wells, Keith Wells,
Jarvis Harrison and Paul Rigney. Honorary pallbearer was Duple Rigney.

SHA'CORA KIERRA HAYES
Feb. 15, 2008-May 20, 2023
Funeral services for Sha'Cora Kierra Hayes, 15, were conducted on
Monday, May 29, 2023 from the Chapel of McDonald and Sons Funeral Home.
Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Born on Feb. 15, 2008, she was the oldest child of the three children of
Shadale Hayes and Courtney Hayes. She received Christ at an early age
and was a head cheerleader of "Team Jesus." She received her education
in the Wayne County School District, along with home schooling with
Acellus home school due to COVID-19. She was full of life, laughter and
fun and, with those ingredients, she couldn't help but to be kind.
She had a love for cooking, doing fingernails, doing her different hair
styles, being an expert in doing eyelashes, hanging out with her brother
and little sister and she looked forward to having her own talk show.
She died on Saturday, May 20, 2023.
She is survived by her mother, Courtney Davis of Waynesboro; her second
mother, Sheneitra Davis of D'Iberville; her loving grandparents, Juanita
(Charles) Sibley and Milton and Vanessa Hayes, all of Waynesboro; her
father Shadale Hayes of Waynesboro; her brother, Cor'Dale Josiah Hayes;
her sister, Gracie Natalie Smith; her aunts, Laila Kierra Davis of
Hattiesburg, Shana Nieoney Davis and Francis Javide Davis, both of
Waynesboro, and Sharon Sherry Henry of Buckatunna; her uncle, Emmanuel
Davis of Waynesboro; a special aunt and uncle, Kathy and John Hill of
Buckatunna; and a host of family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Lela B. Davis.

RUBY JOYCE FRANKS
May 27, 1970-May 17, 2023
Funeral services for Ruby Joyce Franks, 52, of Waynesboro, were
conducted on Thursday, May 25, 2023 from the Chapel of McDonald and Son
Funeral Home.
Interment followed at Sunlight Baptist Church Cemetery.
Born on May 27, 1970 to Willie Wimberly and Weeda Fraise, she accepted
Christ as her Lord and Savior and she loved the Lord with all her heart.
She was a faithful and dedicated member of Sunlight Baptist Church,
where she was under the direction of Rev. Cecil Jackson. She loved life
and loved her family.
She died on Wednesday, May 17, 2023.
She is survived by three children, Derek Steale, Jessica Hill and
Brittney Harris; two sons-in-law, Kendrick Hill and Orlando Harris, whom
she loved just as much; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other
relatives, friends and a sister-in-law.

EULA LEE SINGLETON
Aug. 1, 1930-May 25, 2023
Graveside services for Eula Lee Singleton, 92, were conducted on
Saturday, May 27, 2023 from Willie McCarty Family Cemetery in
Waynesboro, with Rev. Mitchell Smith officiating.
Born in Waynesboro on Friday, Aug. 1, 1930 to Willie McCarty and Alma
McCarty, she attended Clara First Church of God. She retired as a
Machine Operator with Wells Lamont.
She died on Thursday, May 25, 2023 at Pine View Health and
Rehabilitation Center.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Elizabeth
Singleton of Waynesboro; her brother, James T. McCarty of Waynesboro;
her grandson, Joey Singleton of Waynesboro; and two great-grandsons,
Jared Singleton and Jacob Singleton.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Singleton; her father,
Willie McCarty; her mother, Alma McCarty; two brothers, Ralph McCarty
and Albert Ray McCarty; five sisters, Ollie Mae Pitts, Alice Jones, Zola
Walker, Zellowain Cooley and Jean Beasley; and a grandson, Ryan
Singleton.

Funeral services for Leonard McCann, 90, of Shubuta, were conducted on
Saturday, May 20, 2023 from Altair Missionary Baptist Church in Shubuta,
with Rev. Tyrone Spencer officiating.
Interment followed at the church cemetery.
Born on March 20, 1933, he was retired as an Oil Field Employee.
He died on Friday, May 12, 2023 in Slidell, La.
He is survived by his daughter, Shirley Bates of Slidell; his brother
and sister-in-law, Jerome and Shirley McCann of Shubuta; two
grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and two
great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and three
brothers.

ODESSA "LADY Y" CARLISLE-HENDERSON
March 10, 1951-May 13, 2023
Funeral services for Odessa "Lady Y" Carlisle-Henderson, 72, of
Waynesboro, were conducted on Saturday, May 20, 2023 from Chapel Hill
Missionary Baptist Church, with Rev. Danny R. Bolton officiating.
Interment followed at Waynesboro Cemetery.
Born on March 10, 1951, she was a Retiree with Pine Belt Mental Health.
She served as President of the Pastor Aide Committee and was a member of
the Mission Board at Chapel Hill M.B. Church.
She died on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at her residence.
She is survived by he son and daughter-in-law, Ryan and Sharonda
Henderson of Buckatunna; two daughters, Kenya Budd of Portland, Ore.,
and Kimberly Henderson of Waynesboro; her brother and sister-in-law,
Christopher and Cathy Gray of Hattiesburg; her sister, Razella Hayes of
Hattiesburg; six grandchildren, a great-grandchild and two godchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three sisters and
a grandson.
