CHARLES "ROY" CRAVEY

Dec. 3, 1948-Jan. 20, 2024

Funeral services for Charles "Roy" Cravey, 75, of Waynesboro, were

conducted on Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2024 from the Chapel of Freeman Funeral

Home, with Bob Norsworthy and Dr. Steven Bruns officiating.

Interment followed in Waynesboro Cemetery.

Born on Dec. 3, 1948 to Roy Carlie Cravey and Dorothy Cravey, he was a

life-long resident of Waynesboro. He was a graduate of Wayne County High

School and Mississippi State University, where he earned a Bachelor of

Science degree in Computer Science. He was and Owner-Operator of C&C

Food System (Hardee's Restaurants) for more than 40 years.

In his earlier years, he served in the Air National Guard as an Air

Traffic Controller and later as the Vice President of Great Southern

Bank. He was an outdoor enthusiast with a passion for fishing, most

often with his best friend, Buck Powell.

He died on Saturday, Jan. 20, 2024 in Waynesboro.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth "Betsy" Karr-Cravey of

Waynesboro; his sister and brother-in-law, Sherry and Ron Impello of

Pensacola, Fla.; his stepsons and their respective spouses, Kristopher

Ryan and Jennifer Karr of Austin, Texas and Brian Heath and Heather Karr

of Vestavia, Ala.; three grandchildren, Clara Karr, Alex Karr and

Katelyn Karr; and extended family member Linda Cravey of Waynesboro.

He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Carlie Cravey; his mother,

Dorothy Cravey; and his son, Roy Carlie Cravey II.

Pallbearers were Kris Karr, Brian Karr, Brian Clark, Robert Cooley,

Malichi Sanders and Darrell Williams.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the

Parkinson's Foundation.

SARAH WALTERS

Aug. 6, 1939-Jan. 11, 2024

Funeral services for Sarah Walters, 84, of Daleville, were conducted on

Saturday, Jan. 20, 2024 from Webb & Stephens Funeral Home.

Interment followed at Bethel United Methodist Cemetery beside the love

of her life, her husband, John.

Born in Daleville just over the Kemper County line on Aug. 6, 1939 in a

log cabin to the late Oswald Eric Williams (Ret. M/Sgt.) and Mae

Beatrice Limerick Williams, she married John Will Walters on Oct. 5,

1961.

She was a lifelong member of Daleville Baptist Church and was a proud

member of the Class of 1956 at DeKalb High School. After graduation, she

and her mother joined her father at Fort Benning, Ga. She attended and

graduated from Perry's Business School. After her father retired, they

returned home to Daleville.

In 1967, Sarah, John and the children moved to Waynesboro. She was

active in the children's school years, serving as a room mother, in

the PTO and with the school booster club.

She was a charter member of the Chicksawhay Chapter DAR, a charter

member of the Dutch Fork Chapter of South Carolina Genealogy Society and

a charter member of the Wayne County Genealogy Organization. After

John's retirement, they moved back to Nellieburg and she became a

member of the Samuel Dale Chapter DAR.

She died on Thursday, Jan. 11, 2024 at her residence.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sarah Elizabeth

"Beth" and Stan McCain of Daphne, Ala.; her son and daughter-in-law,

Andrew Jeffery "Andy" and Kim Walters of Stakrville; her four

beloved grandchildren and their respective spouses, Chelsea McCain of

Bay Minette, Ala., Erin McCain and Craig Sanders of Mobile, Ala.,

Kathryn Walters of State College, Pa., and Andrew Joshua "Drew"

Walters of Starkville; a great-grandson, Beckett Cain Sanders; a nephew

and his family, John L. Williams, Jr., of Colorado; and several cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, John W. Walters;

both of her parents and a brother, John Lindsay Williams, Sr.

CAROLYN SUE TATE

July 25, 1943-Jan. 14, 2024

Funeral services for Carolyn Sue Tate, 80, of Waynesboro, were conducted

on Thursday, Jan. 18, 2024 from the Chapel of Freeman Funeral Home, with

Rev. Kent Miller and Rev. Charles Burkes officiating.

Interment followed at Arrington Cemetery in Waynesboro.

Born in Waynesboro on Sunday, July 25, 1943 to the late Anderson

"Yank" and Ethel Mae Kelley, she was a member of Pleasant Grove

Baptist Church. She retired as a Bookkeeper with Central Hydraulic.

She died on Sunday, Jan. 14, 2024 at Brookwood Villa Personal Care Home

in Waynesboro.

She is survived by her daughter, Theresa McCarty of Waynesboro; her

granddaughter and her spouse, Chelsea and Chase Bedwell of Waynesboro;

her great-granddaughter, Landree Bedwell of Waynesboro; and two nephews

and their respective spouses, Roy and Cindy Cooley and Ulysses

"Babe" Cooley, Jr.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Arthur Tate; her

parents, Anderson "Yank" and Ethel Mae Kelley; her son-in-law,

Samuel McCarty; her sister, Rufus Jean Cooley; and her brother-in-law,

Ulysses Cooley.

Pallbearers were Timmy Roney, Jason Bedwell, Bryce Bedwell, Nick

Sontestabile, Timmy Kirby and Byron Beck.

The family would like to thank Renee Grimes and her staff at Brookwood

Villa for their excellent care and the love shown to Mrs. Tate during

her time there.

LADERIUS DEVON "ZEKE" MALLEY

Dec. 28, 1991-Jan. 8, 2024

Funeral services for Laderius Devon "Zeke" Malley, 32, of

Waynesboro, were conducted on Saturday, Jan. 20, 2024 from St. Luke

Missionary Baptist Church, with Rev. Larry Pickens officiating.

Interment followed at Waynesboro City Cemetery.

Born on Dec. 28, 1991, he died on Monday, Jan. 8, 2024 at Wayne General

Hospital.

He is survived by his daughter, Alyria KiJirah Lacey; his mother, Glenn

Dale Walley; three sisters, a brother, his grandfather, a host of aunts,

uncles, great-aunts, uncles, nephews, nephews and a great-niece,

Judyemonet Chambers.

He was preceded in death by Mary Ann Malley McGill and Willie Thompkins.
