Graveside services for Christopher Darnell Chambers, 33, of Buckatunna, will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 29, 2022 from Pine Grove Cemetery, with Rev. George Barnett officiating. Visitation will be from 12-6 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 28, 2022 from the Chapel of Turner Funeral Home.

Born on Oct. 19, 1988, he died on Thursday, Jan. 13, 2022 in Leakesville.

MELVIN "DICKIE" JENKINS

Graveside services for Melvin "Dickie" Jenkins, 76, of Mobile, Ala. and formerly of Waynesboro, will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 29, 2022 from New West Cemetery, with Rev. John Dees, Jr., officiating. Visitation will be from 1-6 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 28, 2022 from the Chapel of Turner Funeral Home.

Born on Aug. 21, 1945, he was a former Pulpwood Logger.

He died on Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2022 at USA Medical Center in Mobile.

NELSON "BROWN" BODIE

Feb. 3, 1935-Jan. 19, 2022

Funeral services for Nelson "Brown" Bodie, 86, of Waynesboro, were conducted on Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2022 from the Chapel of Freeman Funeral Home, with Rev. Marvin Griffin officiating.

Interment followed at Boyles Chapel Cemetery.

Born in Waynesboro on Sunday, Feb. 3, 1935 to Berry Nelson Bodie and Hattie Bodie, he worked in maintenance for the Mississippi Department of Transportation.

He died on Wednesday, Jan. 19 2022 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.

He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Eudocia and Jody Arnold of Waynesboro and Angela and George Barlow of Laurel; his son, William Bodie of Mississippi; his brother, Harvey Gene Bodie of Hattiesburg; his sister, Gertie Bell Butler of Saraland, Ala.; 10 grandchildren and their respective spouses, Makayla "Red" Arnold, Kateline "Kate" Arnold, Cole and Kaitlyn Barlow, Cory Barlow, Sommer Barlow, Lydia Friend, Amber Bodie, Ethan Bodie, Matthew West and Candy Pitts; and three great-grandchildren, Brooklyn West, Jackson West and Tyler Williamson.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nona Elizabeth Bodie; his father, Berry Nelson Bodie; his mother, Hattie Bell Bodie; two brothers, Wendall Bodie and Willie Bodie; and three sisters, Marie Boykin, Anna Faye Bodie and Ruby Lee Walker.

STEPHEN DEAN HARTLEIN

March 1, 1948-Jan. 20, 2022

Graveside services for Stephen Dean Hartlein, 73, of Waynesboro, were conducted on Monday, Jan. 24, 2022 at Hebron Cemetery, with Rev. Brad Nicholson officiating.

Born in Richmond, Calif., on Monday, March 1, 1948 to Dean Hartlein and Alma Hartlein, he was a Veteran and served in the United States Navy. He had worked as a Truck Driver.

He died on Thursday, Jan. 20, 2022 at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg.

He is survived by his wife, Terry Hartlein of Waynesboro; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Miles and Sara Hartlein of Dayton, Texas, and Hunter Hartlein of Wayensboro; a daughter and son-in-law, Heather and Clifton Spooner of Tupelo; two sisters, Cindy Newman and Kathy Knoll, both of California; and three grandchildren, Rhett Reed, Navy Hartlein and Maverick Hartlein.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dean Hartlein; and his mother, Alma Hartlein.

BONNIE SUE MOZINGO

Funeral services for Bonnie Sue Mozingo, 88, of Waynesboro, were conducted on Saturday, Jan. 15, 2022 from the Chapel of Freeman Funeral Home, with Rev. Doug Blackledge and Rev. Wayne Blackledge officiating.

Interment followed at West Shady Grove Cemetery.

Born in Smith County on Tuesday, Oct. 3, 1933, she was a Homemaker.

She died on Thursday, Jan. 13, 2022 at Comfort Care Nursing Center in Laurel.

She is survived by her sister, Inez Bates of Laurel; two grandsons, James Thomas Mozingo and Brian Tyler Mozingo; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John T. Mozingo; he son, Thomas Anthony Mozingo; five brothers and three sisters.

JIM TOM WEST

March 3, 1933-Jan. 16, 2022

Graveside services for Jim Tom West, 88, of Waynesboro, were conducted on Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2022 from New Hope Cemetery, with Rev. Jody Smith officiating.

Born in Waynesboro on Friday, March 3, 1933 to John I. West and Pansy G. West, he was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church. He was retired as Owner/operator at West Backhoe and Dozier Service. He also served as a Justice Court Judge for four years.

He died on Sunday, Jan. 16, 2022 at Southern Living Specialty Care.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Robin and Joseph White Henson of Leakesville; his sister, Rebecca West Norsworthy of Hattiesburg; two grandchildren, Summer Aktinson and Kye Platt Boyd; and three great-grandchildren, Kadence Jolee Henson, Sophie Atkinson and Drake Boyd.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean D. West; his father, John I. West; his mother, Pansy G. West; his son, John Jason West; and his daughter, Neysa Le'Anne West-Platt.

Interment followed at Boyles Chapel Cemetery.

Born in Waynesboro on Monday, Aug. 15, 1960 to Owen McLain, Sr., and Daisy Bell McLain, he worked in the oil field as a Foreman.

He died on Saturday, Jan. 8, 2022 at South Central Regional Medical Center.

He is survived by three sons and a daughter-in-law, Jerry Wayne McLain, Jr., of Waynesboro, Jonathan and Mkenzie McLain of Laurel and Michael McLain of Waynesboro; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Daisy and Jason Becker of Yankton, S.D., Brandi and Trace McLain of Waynesboro, Valerie McLain of Sweetwater, Texas, and Elizabeth McLain of Waynesboro; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Ike McLain of Brandon and Ray Dean and Krystal McLain of Waynesboro; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Annette and Arthur Scarbrough of Waynesboro and Jennette and Michael Easterling of Laurel; four grandchildren, Angelina McLain, Damon McLain, Gloria McLain and Charlotte Sammons; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Owen McLain, Sr.; his mother, Daisy Bell McLain; three brothers, O.W. McLain, Jr., Bobby Ray McLain and Michael McLain; and four sisters, Beverly Maxie, Shirley Ezell, Myrtle Davis and Linda Cooley.
