GEORGIA ELAINE JOHNSON
July 31, 1957-June 19, 2023
A Celebration of Life Service for Georgia Elaine Johnson, 64, of
Jacksonville, Fla., and formerly of Waynesboro, will be at 2 p.m. on
Saturday, Nov. 4, 2023 from First Baptist Church of Waynesboro in the
Fellowship Hall. The service will be preceded by a visitation from 1-2
p.m. at the church.
Born on July 31, 1957, she was a cosmetologist in Mississippi and
Florida. She also owned her own jewelry business, Georgia's Jazzy
Jewels.
She died on June 19, 2023 at her residence.
She is survived by her mother, Iris Pearl Johnson; her sister and
brother-in-law, Elizabeth "Liz" and Mike Ellison; her nieces, Shana
Johnson Lackey, Alexis Johnson and MiKayla Ellison; her great-niece, Kay
Lynn Lackey; and her great-nephew, Jaxson Lackey.
She was preceded in death by her father, John Howard Johnson; and her
brother, John Howard Johnson, Jr.
WILMA R. CHERRY
May 17, 1942-Oct. 14, 2023
Funeral services for Wilma R. Cherry, 81, of Waynesboro, were conducted
on Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2023 from Big Creek Baptist Church, with Rev.
Franklin McLelland, Rev. Drew Holifield and Rev. Matt Olson officiating.
Interment followed at White House Cemetery.
Born in Waynesboro on Sunday, May 17, 1942 to the late Burel and Etta
Mae Henderson, she was a member of Big Creek Baptist Church.
She died on Saturday, Oct. 14, 2023 at her residence, surrounded by her
loving family.
She is survived by her son, Bruce Cherry of Cleburne, Texas; her
daughter and son-in-law, Bronwynn and Billy Roberts of Mount Olive; her
brother, Burel Henderson of Waynesboro; five grandchildren and their
respective spouses, Devin and Emily Cherry, Austin and Morgan Cherry,
Garrett Stevison, all of Waynesboro, Aaron Cherry of Boyce, La., and
Wesley Roberts of Mount Olive; and four great-grandchildren, Mariah
Votaw, Garner Schoppe, Leo Cherry and Aubrie Dumas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Cherry; her parents, Burel
and Etta Mae Henderson; her son, Bobby Joe Cherry, Jr.; and her
granddaughter, Alicia Schoppe.
