JAMES FRANKLIN MOFFETT

A memorial service for James Franklin Moffett, 80, of Marietta, Okla.,
will be at 12 noon on Saturday, March 9, 2024 from Lowery Assembly of
God Church.
Born in Waynesboro on Oct. 15, 1943 to Benjamin and Masie (Williams)
Moffett, he graduated from high school in Clara in 1961. He moved to
Oklahoma in 1978, where he was a successful business and restaurant
owner. He was also a pilot and loved flying to Mississippi to see
family.
He served on the Marietta, Okla., City County and as the city's Mayor
for 12 years. He also served on several boards, including the Marietta
Hospital and the Naomi House in Ardmore, Okla. He was a member of the
Marietta Lions Club and volunteered at the Love County Historical
Society Museum.
He was was a member and deacon at T.L.C. Church in Ardmore.
He died on Saturday, Feb. 10, 2024 at his residence.
He is survived by his wife, Sherry Moffett; his sons and
daughter-in-law, Anthony and Robin Moffett of Laurel, Richard Hinton and
John Hinton; his daughters and son-in-law, Belinda Chaney and Mandy and
Jeremy Berryhill; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; his
brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe Sellers of Laurel, Donald and Tammy
Sellers, Michael and Belinda Sellers and Danny and Alzada Sellers, all
of Waynesboro, Ed Moffett and Joe Moffett; and his sisters and
brothers-in-law, Rebecca Pacey, Joan McLain, Louise Williams, Angie
Mills, Ann and Louis Foxworth of Waynesboro and Joannie and Jeff Parker
of Soso.
He was preceded in death by his father, Benjamin Moffett; his mother,
Masie Langley; his stepmother, Friede Teichman; and his sisters, Del
Palmer and Dorothy Jean McCary.
OUIDA (ODOM) TAYLOR
May 15, 1935-March 3, 2024
Funeral services for Ouida (Odom) Taylor, 88, of Millry, Ala., were
conducted on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 from Chapel Hill Baptist Church in
Millry, with Rev. Mike Chatham and Rev. Scott Giles officiating.
Interment followed at Chapel Hill Cemetery in Millry.
Born in Millry on Wednesday, May 15, 1935 to the late Christopher
Columbus "Lum" and Flora Adelle Odom, she was a member of Chapel Hill
Baptist Church. She retired as a Congressional Liaison for the Federal
Emergency Management Agency.
She died on Sunday, March 3, 2024 at Brookwood Villa Personal Care Home
in Waynesboro.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Taylor
Thomas of Cumming, Ga.; her brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Cathy
Odom of Millry; four grandchildren and their respective spouses, Brett
and Nicole Taylor of Tanner, Ala., Courtney and Deric Elder of Opelika,
Ala., Kinsley Thomas of Cumming and Carson Thomas of Buford, Ga.; four
great-grandchildren, Britton Taylor, Madolyn Taylor, Lane Taylor and
Ryder Elder; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Christopher Columbus "Lum" and
Flora Adelle Odom; two sons, Christopher Joseph Taylor and Scott
Christopher Taylor; a brother, Norma Decelle Odom; and a sister, Carolyn
Lavonne Harrison.

JOHNNY SINGLER BURGESS
May 19, 1944-Feb. 29, 2024
Funeral services for Johnny Singler Burgess, 79, of Richton, were
conducted on Monday, March 4, 2024 from the Chapel of Freeman Funeral
Home, with Rev. Norman Nowell and Rev. Anthony O'Neal officiating.
Interment followed at Dailey Cemetery in Chicora.
Born in Waynesboro on Friday, May 19, 1944 to John A. Burgess and Hydia
Burgess, he was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church. He worked as a
Welder with Ingalls Shipyard.
He died on Thursday, Feb. 29, 2024 at his residence.
He is survived by his three sons, John Wesley Burgess of Slidell, La.,
Chris Burgess of Hattiesburg and Mark Burgess of Buckatunna; his
daughter, Wendy Edwards of Wagarville, Ala.; and four grandchildren,
Matthew Burgess, William Burgess, Trace Edwards and Audri Anna Edwards.
Pallbearers were Kelly Williams, Charlie Dailey, Muril Walley, Timothy
Sullivan, Justin Edwards and Glen Skipper.

Funeral services for Dixie Jo Jordan, 56, of Buckatunna, were conducted
on Sunday, March 3, 2024 from the Chapel of Freeman Funeral Home, with
Dr. Terry Williams and Rev. Jim Koen officiating.
Interment followed at Buckatunna Baptist Cemetery in Buckatunna.
Born in Waynesboro on Tuesday, May 9, 1967 to Joe and Dixie Lee Cooper,
she was a member of Buckatunna First Baptist Church.
She died on Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2024 at University of South Alabama
Medical Center in Mobile, Ala.
She is survived by her parents, Joe and Dixie Lee Cooper of Buckatunna;;
her son, Kerby Joe Jordan of Buckatunna;; her daughter, Kensey Lee
Jordan of Buckatunna;; the father of her children of Buckatunna;, Daron
Kerby Jordan; two grandsons, Cason Lee Jordan and Cooper Freeman Jordan
of Buckatunna; and her beloved aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services for Susan "Susie" Hudson, 50, of Clara, were conducted
on Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2024 from Harvest Temple Church in Waynesboro, with
Rev. Eddie Bean officiating.
Interment followed at Conrad Davis Cemetery in Clara.
Born in Waynesboro on Saturday, Dec. 8, 1973 to E.J. Hudson and Judy
Hudson Runnels, she was a member of Harvest Temple Church.
She died on Sunday, Feb. 25, 2024 at her residence.
She is survived by her loving and devoted mother, Judy Hudson Runnels of
Waynesboro; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Harold and Shelia
Hudson and Ray and Diane Hudson, all of Clara, and John Hudson of
Waynesboro; her nieces and nephews, Heather, Candace, Devin, Ellis,
Jaymin, Keith and Macee; and a host of great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, E.J. Hudson; and three nieces,
Kortney Hudson and Jayla and Kayla Hudson.
